Description

The KL2442 is a 2-channel digital output terminal designed for the Beckhoff Bus Terminal system. It is engineered to control 24 V DC actuators, such as ohmic, inductive, or lamp loads. Each channel provides a high current capacity of up to 4.0 A and is individually short-circuit proof. For demanding applications requiring higher power, the two channels can be connected in parallel to achieve a capacity of up to 8 A. The terminal uses a 3-wire connection technology and ensures robust isolation (500 V) between the K-bus and field potential.

Features

  • 2 digital output channels
  • High current capacity: 4.0 A per channel (8 A total in parallel)
  • 3-wire connection technology
  • Individual short-circuit protection
  • Reverse voltage protection for enhanced reliability
  • Compact DIN rail mounting

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Secure the KL2442 onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715). Ensure the locking mechanism is engaged to maintain solid power contact.
  • Wiring: The 3-wire technology allows for direct connection of sensors/actuators. Ensure wire gauges are sufficient to handle the 4 A (or 8 A) load current safely.
  • Parallel Operation: If connecting channels in parallel to achieve 8 A capacity, ensure the load is balanced and the wiring layout is optimized to handle the increased current.
  • Safety: While channels are short-circuit proof, external fuses are recommended to protect the wiring and field power supply from sustained fault currents.
  • Environment: Maintain ambient temperatures between 0 degC and +55 degC and keep relative humidity below 95% (non-condensing) to prevent moisture buildup in the terminal housing.

What is the maximum output current for the KL2442?

The terminal supports 4.0 A per channel, which can be increased to 8 A if the two channels are connected in parallel.

Does the KL2442 include short-circuit protection?

Yes, each channel is individually short-circuit proof.

What connection technology does this terminal use?

It uses 3-wire connection technology for the outputs.

Is the module reverse voltage protected?

Yes, the module includes reverse voltage protection.
