Product Description

Description

The BECKHOFF KL3022 is a 2-channel analog input Bus Terminal designed for the acquisition of standard current signals in the range of 4 to 20 mA. Operating within the modular Beckhoff Bus Terminal system, this component converts analog field signals into digital values with a 12-bit resolution, ensuring reliable and electrically isolated data transmission to the higher-level controller via the K-bus.

Equipped with differential inputs, the BECKHOFF KL3022 is highly effective at rejecting common-mode noise and managing ground potential differences between field devices and the control cabinet. The integrated input circuitry provides robust signal integrity and protection against voltage surges in demanding industrial environments.

Features

  • Two independent analog input channels for 4 to 20 mA signals
  • 12-bit digital resolution for accurate measurement representation
  • Differential input architecture for enhanced noise and common-mode voltage suppression
  • Electrical isolation of 500 V between the K-bus and the input signal circuitry
  • Compact, DIN-rail mountable housing conforming to the standard Beckhoff Bus Terminal design

Applications

  • Process instrumentation monitoring, including flow, pressure, and level transmitters
  • Integration of standard 2-wire and 4-wire loop-powered industrial sensors
  • General machinery control and distributed analog data acquisition

Installation Guidelines

  1. Ensure that the entire system power supply is completely de-energized before mounting, removing, or wiring the module.
  2. Mount the KL3022 onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715) by snapping it onto the rail until the locking mechanism engages securely.
  3. Align and push the terminal horizontally to ensure proper electrical contact of the K-bus and potential contacts with adjacent terminals.
  4. Connect the field signal wires to the tension clamp connection points using suitable conductor cross-sections.
  5. For applications subject to high electromagnetic interference, connect the cable shield directly to the mounting rail or designated shielding terminals.
  6. Apply power to the system and observe the diagnostic LEDs to verify proper startup and K-bus communication.
