Product Description

Description

The GE Multilin 750-P5-G1-S1-HI-A20-R is a digital feeder management relay designed for the primary protection, control, and asset management of distribution feeders in solidly grounded, high impedance grounded, or resonant grounded systems. Equipped with a high-performance microprocessor architecture, flash memory for field upgrades, and real-time oscillography, the device provides integrated current, voltage, frequency, power, and energy metering to eliminate auxiliary metering equipment. Communication interface hardware includes a front RS232 port, dual rear RS485/RS422 ports, and supports Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, and DNP 3.0 Level 2 protocols over serial or optional 10Mbps Ethernet physical layers. The GE Multilin 750-P5-G1-S1-HI-A20-R processes inputs from 5 A phase CTs, 1 A zero sequence CTs, and 1 A sensitive ground CTs, generating output signaling via eight electromechanical output relays, one high-speed solid-state SCR output, and eight isolated 4-20 mA analog outputs.

Features

  • Complete phase, neutral, ground, and sensitive ground time and instantaneous overcurrent protection with 15 standard and custom FlexCurves
  • Directional power, directional overcurrent, reverse power flow detection, and restricted earth fault protection
  • Built-in synchronism check supervising breaker closing via voltage, frequency, and phase angle differentials
  • Under/over voltage and under/over frequency protection with rate-of-change frequency decay tracking
  • Comprehensive circuit breaker monitoring including contact wear calculations, trip counter, and trip/close coil supervision
  • Onboard waveform capture saving up to 256 power frequency cycles, event recorder storing up to 256 events, and 8-channel data logger
  • Draw-out construction design for simplified testing, maintenance, and rapid replacement
  • Harsh chemical environment option featuring conformal coating for corrosive or humid installations

Applications

  • Primary protection and control for distribution feeders in utility and industrial power systems
  • Bus blocking, interlocking, and automatic bus transfer (throw-over) schemes
  • Load shedding systems based on voltage and frequency protection elements
  • Distributed Generation (DG) interconnect protection and reverse power monitoring
  • Back-up protection for transformers, transmission lines, and distribution buses

Installation Guidelines

  • Ensure the relay unit safety ground terminal is directly wired to the panel protective earth before applying auxiliary control voltage.
  • Connect all current transformer wiring using shorting-type terminal connections to prevent open-circuit CT high-voltage hazards.
  • Route communication cabling using shielded twisted-pair cables, grounding the cable shields exclusively at the PLC/computer host side.
  • Verify that the auxiliary power supply rating matches the HI control power voltage ranges (88-300 VDC or 70-265 VAC) prior to energization.
  • Maintain clean, unblocked ventilation pathways around the draw-out chassis to adhere to environmental operating limits from -40 degC to +60 degC.
