Description

The GE Multilin PQMII-T20-C-A is an industrial power quality monitoring device designed to perform continuous metering, electrical parameter analysis, and control functions within electrical substations and facility power networks. This fully optioned assembly integrates a baseline measurement module with a localized alphanumeric display panel to log all fundamental current, voltage, and power vectors. Equipped with the T20 transducer option, the module provides four isolated analog outputs and a 4-20 mA analog input alongside a secondary RS485 communication link. The C control configuration expands system utility by adding three programmable output relays and four hardware switch inputs, while the A power analysis suite implements harmonic evaluation, waveform capture, and dedicated voltage disturbance tracking directly inside the localized memory registers.

Features

  • Comprehensive Power Metering: Tracks three-phase voltage and current waveforms alongside active, reactive, apparent power, and power factor vectors.
  • Isolated Transducer Interface: Incorporates 4 isolated analog outputs (0-20 mA or 4-20 mA) assignable to any measured parameter and 1 specialized 4-20 mA analog input channel.
  • Programmable Relay Control: Features 4 programmable output relays and 4 discrete contact switch inputs to coordinate localized interlocking or alarm routing.
  • Power Quality Diagnostics: Provides advanced harmonic profiling, triggered trace memory capture, an internal event recorder, and data logging functions.
  • Redundant Data Networking: Outfitted with 2 independent serial RS485 communication interfaces and 1 dedicated front-access RS232 port.

Applications

  • Utility and commercial power substation tracking.
  • Motor control center and distribution switchgear loading monitoring.
  • Harmonic distortion profiling and power factor correction supervision.
  • Feeder diagnostic capture and voltage disturbance logging.

Installation Guidelines

Panel Cutout and Mounting

Prepare a standard rectangular vertical panel opening matching the housing dimensions defined in the installation layout. Insert the meter from the front face of the dashboard frame and tighten the rear-accessed integrated clamp bolts evenly to seal the front bezel gasket against dust or moisture entry.

Instrument Transformer Connections

Route all secondary voltage transformer (VT) and current transformer (CT) wires through localized external shorting or isolation switches. Ensure that no active current transformer secondary path becomes open-circuited while primary grid load is actively present.

Terminal Grounding

Connect a dedicated, low-impedance safety ground wire from the rear chassis grounding stud directly to the main copper station panel bus. Clean all contact surfaces of protective coatings or oxidation prior to fastening the grounding lug.

Serial Link Termination

When implementing long RS485 communication runs, install a matching 120-ohm termination resistor across the differential signal lines at the final terminal point of the network segment to suppress signal reflection and prevent telemetry corruption.

What parameters can be assigned to the four isolated analog outputs of the T20 option?

The four isolated analog outputs can be assigned to map any of the measured current, voltage, frequency, power factor, or calculated power parameters.

Is the voltage disturbance recorder function fully supported on this specific configuration?

Yes, the voltage disturbance recorder is supported on this model because the full PQMII-T20-C-A configuration incorporates the required 25 MHz hardware processing core.

How many total programmable serial interfaces are available on the PQMII-T20-C-A unit?

The device contains three serial ports in total: two independent RS485 ports located on the rear terminal blocks and one RS232 port situated on the front panel face.
