Description

The General Electric IC693MDL634 is an 8-point, 24 VDC positive/negative logic discrete input module designed for the GE Series 90-30 programmable logic controller system. It provides eight input circuits arranged in a single group sharing a common power return terminal. The module interfaces directly with two-wire and three-wire field input devices, including momentary pushbuttons, limit switches, selector switches, and electronic proximity sensors. An active signal conducting into an input channel sets a corresponding logic 1 in the CPU input status table (%I).

Operating voltage for connected field circuits can be supplied through an external 24 VDC power source or sourced from the isolated 24 VDC output terminals located on the Series 90-30 system power supply. Status monitoring is provided by a top-mounted LED array consisting of two horizontal rows of eight indicators, with the upper row labeled A1 through A8 reflecting the real-time operational status of points 1 through 8. A hinged front door secures an insert card providing field wiring schematics on the inside face and a circuit identification label on the outside face. The insert features a blue color code along its left edge to denote a low-voltage DC classification.

Installation Guidelines

The IC693MDL634 installs into any available I/O slot in a Series 90-30 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate, including CPU baseplates, expansion baseplates, and remote baseplates. Field connections terminate at the removable front terminal assembly. When configuring the module for positive logic, wire the external power common (0V DC) to the module common terminal, permitting field devices to apply +24 VDC to individual input channels. When configuring for negative logic, wire the positive DC potential (+24 VDC) to the module common terminal so that field devices complete the path to 0V DC. In PACSystems RX3i systems utilizing legacy IC693 discrete modules, the field terminal block must be removed prior to extracting the module.
