The TK-IAH161 is functionally identical to the coated version (TC-IAH161) but is intended for non-corrosive environments. It typically mounts on the CC-TAIH01 or CC-TAIH11 I/O Termination Assemblies. If migrating from a non-HART model (such as the TK-IAI161), this module serves as a direct upgrade to enable digital device diagnostics, though the control system's block configuration must be updated in Experion to enable HART routing.
When configuring loop-powered (2-wire) transmitters, verify the total loop impedance. The internal resistance of the TK-IAH161 channel combined with cable run resistance must not exceed the transmitter's maximum load capability at 24 VDC. For self-powered (4-wire) transmitters, ensure appropriate isolators or common-ground references are applied to prevent ground loops that disrupt HART digital frequency-shift keying (FSK) signals.
For robust HART communication, the loop must have a minimum impedance of 250 ohms. If the field device cannot sustain a stable digital handshake, confirm that no external surge protection devices with high capacitance are installed in parallel with the loop, as they can shunt the high-frequency HART carrier signal. Always ground the signal cable shield at the IOTA terminal end only.
