While the base FX5U CPU contains an onboard RJ45 Ethernet port, the FX5-ENET is specifically applied when network security mandates physically separated subnets or when your project exceeds the base CPU's native connection limits. Note that when mounting the FX5-ENET to an ultra-compact FX5UC CPU, you must install an FX5-CNV-BUS or FX5-CNV-BUSC bus conversion module prior to attaching this network block.
When configuring CC-Link IE Field Network Basic, verify that the total cyclic transmission load does not saturate your network bandwidth. Because the FX5-ENET relies on the internal system bus for power, ensure that the total current draw of all connected extension modules does not exceed the remaining capacity of the 24 V DC service power supply integrated within the host CPU module.
To prevent high-frequency industrial noise from interrupting communication packets, always use double-shielded category 5e (STP) or higher Ethernet cabling. Ground the shield at the switch side, and confirm that the main PLC base unit is securely grounded to a Class D ground (grounding resistance of 100 ohms or less) via a dedicated, short copper grounding strap.
