Description
Designed for high-density data acquisition within the Sysmac automation platform, the Omron NX-AD4603 provides high-speed, single-ended analog voltage monitoring across eight independent channels. This high-resolution module integrates into the Omron NX-series I/O system, offering seamless communication with Sysmac NJ/NX controllers or industrial couplers. By converting analog physical inputs to precise digital values under a Free-Run refreshing architecture, the Omron NX-AD4603 ensures reliable process tracking for complex industrial manufacturing environments.
Features
-
High-Density 8-Point Layout: Houses eight single-ended input channels within a compact 12 mm width to optimize control cabinet space.
-
Standard Industrial Voltage Range: Accepts -10 V to +10 VDC inputs, supporting standard pressure, temperature, and flow transducers.
-
High Conversion Precision: Features 1/8000 full-scale resolution, mapping analog inputs to a decimal digital scale of -4000 to 4000.
-
Continuous Free-Run Refreshing: Provides constant, asynchronous update cycles for applications where synchronization to the master PLC cycle is not strictly required.
-
Robust Input Protection: Built-in safeguards support an absolute maximum voltage rating of +/-15 V to prevent damage from transient voltage surges.
Applications
-
Multi-Sensor Machine Telemetry: Integrates arrayed displacement, pressure, and level sensors directly into the primary control network.
-
Factory Automation & Assembly: Monitors analog feedback from tooling actuators and automated clamping systems.
-
Continuous Process Monitoring: Captures high-frequency electrical feedback in packaging and material handling machines.

Alternative Models & Compatibility
The Omron NX-AD4603 is fully compatible with any NX-series EtherCAT Coupler Unit (such as the NX-ECC201/ECC202) and EtherNet/IP Coupler Units. It can also be directly mounted to the right of an NX1P2 CPU. Note that Sysmac Studio version 1.10 or higher is required for complete hardware configuration and calibration. If differential voltage inputs are required to isolate electrical signals across distant field sensors, consider the 2-point differential NX-AD2603 or the 4-point NX-AD3603.
Application Pitfalls & Engineering Notes
Because this module utilizes a single-ended input design, all eight channels share a common internal ground connection. If your field transmitters reside at significantly different ground potentials, this shared reference can introduce ground loop noise, affecting reading accuracy or causing drift. In systems where sensor grounds cannot be equalized, install external signal isolators or transition to isolated differential input modules.
Commissioning & Wiring Tips
To prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) from distorting low-level analog signals, always route input wiring away from high-voltage motor cables and variable frequency drive (VFD) output paths. Use shielded, twisted-pair cabling for all analog inputs, and ground the shielding foil at a single, solid earth point near the PLC chassis. Ensure the sensor voltage does not exceed the absolute limit of +/-15 V, as sustained overvoltage will degrade the internal ADC multiplexer.
Installation Guidelines
CRITICAL WARNING: Prior to physical installation, mounting, or wiring modifications, isolate and de-energize all primary system power supplies. Confirm all residual charge has fully bled down. Failure to de-energize can damage sensitive internal CMOP logic or cause system communication faults on the NX-bus.
1
Align the guide connectors on the side of the NX-AD4603 with the adjacent NX unit on the DIN rail.
2
Slide the module onto the DIN rail until the slide locking mechanism engages with an audible click.
3
Strip field wiring to the specified length (8 to 10 mm) and insert directly into the screwless push-in connection terminals.
4
Power up the system bus and verify status via the LED indicators on the front face of the module.
