The NX-TC3405 belongs to the modular NX-series, which is compatible with NJ/NX CPU units and EtherCAT Coupler Units (such as the NX-ECC203). When replacing older systems or configuring custom control setups, note that the NX-TC3405 features PNP outputs (source logic). For NPN (sink logic) requirements, the NX-TC3406 should be specified. Furthermore, if only two control loops are required, consider the 2-channel NX-TC2405 to optimize panel layout and hardware costs.
An essential engineering consideration is the 21 mA current limit per output point on the digital control channels. Attempting to directly switch high-draw inductive loads or mechanical relays will damage the internal output stage. Routing these outputs through a compatible solid-state relay (SSR) with a logic-level input is highly recommended. For accurate temperature readings, ensure that the thermocouple cold-junction sensor on the terminal block is not exposed to direct drafts from cooling fans inside the electrical cabinet, as local air currents can skew cold-junction compensation algorithms.
During initial configuration within Sysmac Studio, ensure that the selected input type corresponds exactly to the connected sensor (such as K-type or Pt100) to prevent calculation errors. Keep sensor wires separate from high-voltage AC lines to minimize electromagnetic noise coupling. Utilize shielded twisted-pair cables for thermocouple runs and ground the shield only at the control panel side. The Push-in Plus terminals support solid wires up to 1.5 mm2 or standard ferruled stranded wires; avoid tinned, bare stranded wires to ensure a reliable long-term gas-tight connection.
CRITICAL WARNING
Ensure the entire PLC system is de-energized prior to installing, removing, or wiring the module. Working on live equipment risks destroying the sensitive internal bus interface of the NX backplane and presents a shock hazard. Confirm that the heater circuits are completely isolated before connecting the heater burnout sensing inputs.
Mount the module onto the DIN rail by aligning the top channel hook and pressing downward until the locking latch clicks firmly into place.
Slide the unit horizontally along the rail until it connects securely with the adjacent NX-series module, engaging the internal bus connectors.
Insert pre-insulated ferrules directly into the Push-in Plus terminals to complete the sensor and SSR output connections.
