Description

Designed for precise thermal data acquisition in automated industrial environments, the NX-TS2201 delivers high-resolution temperature monitoring within the Omron Sysmac platform. This high-density temperature input unit supports up to two resistance thermometer (RTD) input points, processing signals from Pt100 and Pt1000 three-wire sensors. Utilizing a fast conversion cycle of 250 ms per unit and achieving a thermal resolution of 0.1 degC, it ensures stable and accurate process variables for critical control loops.

The module is built on the NX-series I/O platform, interfacing directly with NX-series CPU Units or Communication Couplers over EtherCAT or EtherNet/IP networks. To ensure high signal integrity in noisy electrical environments, the unit incorporates comprehensive galvanic isolation between individual inputs and the internal NX bus, alongside channel-to-channel isolation. Connection to field sensors is simplified through a high-reliability, 16-terminal screwless clamping terminal block.

Features

  • Two-channel high-accuracy resistance thermometer (RTD) input structure.
  • Compatible with Pt100 and Pt1000 three-wire temperature sensors.
  • Fast thermal conversion speed of 250 ms per unit.
  • Fine resolution up to 0.1 degC max for precise process monitoring.
  • Complete channel-to-channel and bus-to-channel galvanic isolation using transformer and photocoupler technologies.
  • Convenient 16-point screwless clamping terminal block reduces wiring time and maintenance overhead.
  • Supports Free-Run I/O refreshing method for consistent update intervals.

Applications

  • Industrial furnace and thermal oven control systems.
  • Food pasteurization, processing, and packaging machines.
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical reactor temperature logging.
  • HVAC, environmental chambers, and cleanroom climate control.
  • Plastic extrusion and injection molding thermal zones.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Install on standard 35 mm DIN rail (IEC 60715) alongside other NX-series hardware. Ensure correct interlocking of bus connectors.
  • Warm-up Period: Allow at least 10 minutes of active operation after power-up for the internal circuitry to stabilize and achieve rated measurement accuracy.
  • Wiring: Use shielded twisted-pair cables for sensor lines. Connect the shield securely to avoid electromagnetic interference from adjacent high-voltage wiring.
  • Terminal Tooling: Use the dedicated flat-blade screwdriver or equivalent tool to actuate the screwless clamps when inserting or removing conductor wires.

What sensor types are supported by the Omron NX-TS2201?

The NX-TS2201 temperature input unit supports Pt100 (three-wire) and Pt1000 (three-wire) resistance thermometer sensors.

What is the resolution and conversion time of this module?

The module provides a temperature resolution of 0.1 degC max. with a conversion time of 250 ms per Unit.

Does the NX-TS2201 feature isolation between individual input channels?

Yes. The module provides complete galvanic isolation using power transformers and photocoupler signal transmission both between inputs and the NX bus, and between the inputs themselves.

Does the NX-TS2201 require external I/O power supply wiring?

No. The NX-TS2201 does not utilize I/O power supply terminals and draws no current from the I/O power supply bus; it runs entirely on internal NX Unit power.

What type of connection interface does this module use?

It is equipped with a 16-terminal screwless clamping terminal block, allowing secure, tool-free field wiring.
