Description
Integration of sequence, motion, and information processing within a single compact controller footprint characterizes the Omron NX102-9000 CPU unit. Engineered for the Sysmac NX1 platform, this controller facilitates synchronized control of local I/O and motion devices via EtherCAT, while simultaneously managing upstream IT enterprise communications. It provides direct connectivity to databases and secure machine-to-machine communications without requiring intermediate gateways, making it a pivotal component in modern industrial internet of things (IIoT) architectures.
The NX102-9000 utilizes a unified backplane bus, allowing seamless connection of NX-series digital, analog, and specialty I/O modules directly to the CPU. Its integrated memory structure and processing speed ensure reliable execution of complex sequence and position control routines in high-throughput automated systems.
Features
- Built-in EtherCAT Master and dual-port EtherNet/IP interfaces for high-speed deterministic networking.
- Integrated OPC UA server functionality for secure, standardized vertical integration to MES, SCADA, and cloud platforms.
- Direct execution of sequence and position control programs within a single, unified runtime environment.
- Support for up to 32 local NX I/O expansion units on a high-speed backplane.
- Robust memory resources including 5 MB of program storage and 33.5 MB of variables memory.
Applications
- High-speed packaging, wrapping, and labeling machinery.
- Automated material handling, sorting, and conveyor systems.

Installation Guidelines
-
Mounting: Mount horizontally on a standard 35 mm DIN rail. Ensure the lock levers are fully engaged to prevent sliding.
-
Ventilation: Maintain a minimum clearance of 30 mm above and below the CPU module to facilitate natural convection cooling. Do not block the integrated vents.
-
Grounding: Connect the functional ground (FG) terminal directly to a dedicated ground electrode of 100 ohms or less using minimum 2 mm square wiring.
-
Shielding: Use double-shielded twisted-pair cables (Category 5e or higher) for EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP connections to prevent electromagnetic noise interference.
