Description

Option 02 (0.2 in unthreaded length) and Option 18 (1.8 in case length) specify this 3300 XL 11 mm reverse mount probe configuration — 330705-02-18-10-02-05. As a critical sensor component within 3300 XL 11 mm monitoring chains, this non-contact eddy-current transducer measures axial position, radial vibration, and rotor position on rotating machinery. It provides a standard scale factor of 3.94 V/mm (100 mV/mil) with a linear range of 4.0 mm (160 mils), enabling high-accuracy monitoring of fluid film bearing machinery, steam turbines, and reciprocating compressors.

Unlike standard thread-mount probes, this reverse-mount variant uses a 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread design optimized for installations where the probe is threaded in from the opposite side of the mounting bracket or machine casing. It features a 1.0-meter integral coaxial cable terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector, providing secure connection to standard 330730 extension cables without requiring a connector protector. The Option 05 agency approval package ensures compliance with international electrical safety standards for hazardous locations, including ATEX, IECEx, and CSA certifications.

Features

  • Option 02 configuration designates a fixed 0.2 in unthreaded length and 1.8 in case length.
  • 3/8-24 UNF-2A reverse-mount thread allows rear-insertion installation on machine casings.
  • 1.0-meter (3.3 feet) integral triaxial cable provides low-loss signal propagation within 5.0-meter or 9.0-meter systems.
  • Gold-plated brass ClickLoc connector ensures a positive locking, vibration-resistant connection.
  • Option 05 agency approvals allow safe implementation in certified hazardous environments.
  • Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip material combined with AISI 304 stainless steel probe body delivers robust chemical and mechanical resistance.
  • Patented TipLoc molding and CableLoc designs supply 330 N (75 lb) pull strength between the probe case and lead.

Applications

  • Turbine and compressor shaft radial vibration and axial position measurement
  • Ramp differential expansion measurements on industrial steam turbines
  • Rod drop and piston rod position monitoring on reciprocating compressors
  • Tachometer, zero-speed, and phase reference (Keyphasor) signal generation

Installation Guidelines

  • Always install the reverse mount probe with thread engagement matching the external probe thread class to avoid binding.
  • Torque the probe case to the recommended value of 7.5 N-m (66 in-lb). Do not exceed the maximum rated limit of 22.6 N-m (200 in-lb) to prevent case deformation.
  • Ensure a minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) when routing standard or FluidLoc coaxial leads.
  • Isolate coaxial connector terminations from machine ground. Shielding should be terminated at the monitoring system or barrier end only.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330705-02-18-10-02-05 3300 XL 11 mm Reverse Mount Probe

What does the -02-18 segment of the part number represent?

The -02-18 prefix represents the fixed physical body configuration of the 330705 reverse mount probe. It designates a 0.2-inch unthreaded length and a 1.8-inch overall case length with 3/8-24 UNF-2A threads.

Does this probe come with a connector protector?

No, the Option 02 connector option indicates a miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector on a standard cable without a factory-installed connector protector. You may install silicone tape or purchase separate connector protectors if additional moisture isolation is required.

What target material is this proximity probe calibrated to?

The 3300 XL 11 mm system is calibrated by default to AISI 4140 steel. Accuracy specifications apply only when using this standard target material, with a recommended target diameter of 31 mm or larger.

What are the maximum temperature limits for the probe?

The 3300 XL 11 mm probe is rated for an operating and storage temperature range of -52 degC to +177 degC (-62 degF to +351 degF). Exposing the probe to temperatures below -34 degC (-30 degF) may cause premature seal degradation.
