Description

330906-02-12-05-02-00 specifies a Bently Nevada 3300 NSv reverse mount proximity probe configured with an unthreaded case length of 0.2 inches, an overall case length of 1.2 inches, and a 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread profile. This probe option features a 0.5-meter (20-inch) standard FEP cable with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector and is supplied without hazardous area agency approvals. Unlike standard-mount models that are screwed into place from outside the machine housing, reverse-mount probes are installed from the inside or rear, protecting the sensor body and maintaining position settings in tight spaces.

This probe operates with a 3300 XL NSv proximity transducer system and is interchangeable with legacy 3300 RAM proximity probe installations. The transducer system provides non-contact shaft vibration and axial position measurements on small-bore machinery or high-speed machinery where clearance constraints limit probe tip diameter.

Features

  • Thread Type: 3/8-24 UNF-2A threaded case for secure mechanical installation.
  • Unthreaded Length (Option 02): Fixed unthreaded length of 0.2 inches.
  • Case Length (Option 12): Overall case length of 1.2 inches.
  • Total Length (Option 05): Total probe length of 0.5 meters (20 inches).
  • Connector Design (Option 02): Gold-plated brass coaxial ClickLoc connector locks into place to prevent accidental loosening from vibration.
  • Agency Approvals (Option 00): Standard safe-area configuration with no hazardous area approvals required.
  • Cable Style: Unarmored 75-ohm coaxial cable insulated with fluoroethylene propylene (FEP).
  • Tip Design: Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip utilizing patented TipLoc molding for secure bonding.

Applications

The 3300 NSv reverse mount probe is used for non-contact displacement, radial vibration, and axial position measurements in rotating machinery. It is suited for high-speed machinery with limited target geometry, such as aeroderivative gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, small pumps, and auxiliary equipment where standard probe casing clearances are insufficient.

Installation Guidelines

Proper installation of the 3300 NSv reverse mount probe provides accurate vibration and axial measurements:

  • Mounting: Reverse-mount probes are designed to be threaded into a mounting bracket or sleeve from the rear/inside. Tighten the probe case to a maximum recommended torque of 0.56 N-m (5 in-lb) or finger-tight to avoid casing damage.
  • Cable Routing: Maintain a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) for the probe cable to prevent physical damage or impedance changes. Secure the cable with appropriate clips to avoid whip during operation.
  • Connector Care: Keep gold-plated ClickLoc connectors clean and dry. Avoid contact with skin oils. Slide the connector halves together until they click-lock into position.
  • Target Clearance: Ensure target size matches or exceeds the minimum recommended diameter of 8.9 mm (0.35 inches). Standard calibration is to AISI 4140 steel.

Compliance and Certifications

The 3300 XL NSv Proximity Transducer System components conform to the following standards when used as a system:

  • EMC: EN 61000-6-2 (Industrial Immunity), EN 61000-6-4 (Industrial Emissions)
  • RoHS: European Community Directive 2011/65/EU
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 capability (HFT=0), SIL 3 capability (HFT=1) when configured as a redundant system
