Description

The GE Multilin UR-6FH is a high-speed discrete interface component designed for the Universal Relays series that provides eight Fast Form-C outputs to facilitate high-speed and secure communication with power system equipment. This direct I/O module allows the protective relay chassis to interface seamlessly with switchyard machinery, enabling the rapid transmission of binary control signals required for monitoring, management, and localized protection routines.

The primary function of the UR-6FH is to translate internal protection commands into physical contact state modifications with minimal systemic delay. Unlike standard Form-C contacts which carry an operate time of less than 8 ms, the specialized mechanical output relays on the UR-6FH are engineered to optimize switching speed, reducing the total operating time to less than 0.6 ms. Each Fast Form-C path delivers Single Pole-Double Throw (SPDT) mechanics, presenting one common terminal (C), one normally open terminal (NO), and one normally closed terminal (NC). This changeover capability allows technicians to configure flexible dual-path interlocking or command loops across secondary automation circuits. All output states and associated logic schemes are mapped electronically using the native EnerVista setup application.

Features

  • Eight Fast Form-C Relay Outputs: Equipped with 8 specialized high-speed Single Pole-Double Throw (SPDT) changeover contacts.
  • Ultra-Low Operating Latency: Reduces contact operate time from standard rates down to less than 0.6 ms for immediate tripping and interlocking transmission.
  • Flexible Contact Architecture: Each point provides a complete changeover node containing isolated Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed terminals.
  • EnerVista Software Configuration: Supported fully by the EnerVista software platform to implement contact routing assignments, event logging, and status profiling.

Applications

  • High-Speed Breaker Tripping Schemes: Installed within protection relay setups to dispatch immediate, time-critical trip signals to station circuit breakers.
  • Dynamic Automation Interlocking: Implements rapid changeover signaling between substation zones to secure interlocking networks before hazardous states develop.
  • Substation Control Coordination: Transmits high-speed binary control and status parameters to supervisory networks or adjoining physical apparatus.

Installation Guidelines

  • Control Power Removal: Ensure all operational power supplies and secondary voltage paths feeding the protective relay chassis are isolated and completely de-energized before handling the hardware card.
  • Electrostatic Discharge Minimization: Technicians must utilize an approved electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap connected to a verified ground point before touching or sliding the hardware module.
  • Ordering Code Allocation: Review the target relay's original product order code matrix; specific slots designated with "XX" indicate empty unpopulated layout fields where this card can be integrated as a field-level performance upgrade.
  • Module Seating Procedure: Slide the card parallel along the horizontal chassis enclosure tracks until the rear edge pins seat completely into the internal backplane socket. Fasten the faceplate assembly mounting hardware firmly.
Key Features:

What is the primary operational advantage of the UR-6FH module over standard Form-C modules?

The module features an optimized operate time of less than 0.6 ms, compared to standard Form-C contacts which have a response latency of less than 8 ms.

What terminal connections are provided for each output on the UR-6FH card?

Each of the eight Fast Form-C outputs provides a Single Pole-Double Throw configuration containing one common terminal (C), one normally open terminal (NO), and one normally closed terminal (NC).

How does the UR-6K option differ from the UR-6FH output configuration?

The 6K ordering option provides four Fast Form-C outputs and four standard Form-C outputs, whereas this module contains eight dedicated Fast Form-C outputs.
