Description

Triconex 3624 is a 24 VDC TMR supervised digital output module for Tricon fault-tolerant control systems. It provides 16 commoned digital output points for controlling field devices in critical process applications.

The module receives output data from the three Tricon Main Processors through separate channels. Each set of three output signals is processed by a fully fault-tolerant quadruplicated output switch before being sent to the field termination.

Voltage and current loopback circuits continuously verify the output switches, field circuit, and connected load. These diagnostics operate without changing the commanded output state.

The supervision circuitry detects loss of field power, open loads, missing loads, shorted loads, and field shorts that could energize a load incorrectly. The module supports hot-spare operation and requires a separate external termination panel.

Installation Guidelines

  • Install the module in a compatible Tricon chassis I/O slot.
  • Use a supported external termination panel and interface cable.
  • Do not connect field wiring directly to the module.
  • Maintain the field supply between 16 and 30 VDC.
  • Ensure each connected load draws at least 30 mA.
  • Keep continuous point current within the 0.7 A rating.
  • Verify that surge current does not exceed 4.8 A for 10 ms.
  • Install an identical module in the adjacent position when hot-spare operation is required.
  • Follow the approved Tricon procedure for online module replacement.
  • Install the controller in an enclosure that prevents dust and falling debris entry.
  • Maintain adequate chassis airflow and the specified operating temperature.
