Description
The Bently Nevada 330101-00-13-10-02-00 is a high-performance 8 mm proximity probe configured as part of the 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Transducer System. This model is engineered for non-contact shaft vibration and dynamic position measurement across critical rotating machinery. Unlike armored configurations, this unarmored variant features a standard flexible coaxial cable, making it easier to route through existing protective conduits or narrow wiring channels. The physical design features a 3/8-24 UNF thread, a fully threaded 1.3-inch case with no unthreaded portion (0.0 in unthreaded length), and a 1.0-meter (3.3 feet) integrated cable terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector. Since it is configured with the "00" agency approval code, this probe is intended for general industrial utility in non-explosive/benign environments where certified hazardous area packages are not required.
Operating on the physical principle of eddy currents, this sensor interacts with a conductive metal target (ideally AISI 4140 steel) to provide extremely precise displacement readings without physical contact. The probe is permanently mounted in bearing caps or machine housings, connecting seamlessly with 3300 XL Proximitor sensors (such as the 330180 series) and matching extension cables to track rotor movement, fluid-film bearing behavior, and thermal growth patterns in critical industrial assets.
Features
-
Fully Threaded Case: Zero unthreaded length (0.0 in) allows for shallow-depth mechanical installations and maximum adjustments inside threaded ports.
-
Compact 1.3-Inch Profile: Ideal for tight machinery geometries, bearing housings, and environments with limited clearance.
-
Unarmored Standard Cable: Provides a lighter, highly flexible physical profile that simplifies cable pulling through conduits.
-
ClickLoc Coaxial Connection: Gold-plated miniature connector offers a reliable, low-impedance connection that secures with an audible click.
-
Eddy Current Sensing: Enables continuous, wear-free monitoring of high-speed shaft vibration and axial position.
-
Viton O-Ring Seal: Designed to maintain a reliable environmental barrier, preventing internal oil or gas leakage through the probe body.
Applications
The 330101-00-13-10-02-00 probe is designed for machinery protection and condition monitoring in key heavy-duty industrial sectors, including:
- Power generation plants monitoring steam, gas, or hydro turbine shaft behavior.
- Petrochemical and oil refining facilities protecting high-pressure centrifugal compressors.
- Water treatment and mining operations utilizing heavy-duty pumps, fans, and gearboxes.
- General rotating machinery monitoring including industrial electric motors and generator bearings.

Installation Guidelines
To secure a reliable mechanical and electrical setup, adhere to the following standard engineering procedures:
-
Target Alignment: Align the probe face perpendicular to the target shaft. For accurate calibration (7.87 V/mm or 200 mV/mil), the shaft target material should be AISI 4140 steel.
-
Setting the Gap: Adjust the physical clearance between the probe face and the shaft until the matching Proximitor sensor output reads -10.0 Vdc (the nominal midpoint of the linear range, corresponding to a gap of approximately 1.27 mm or 50 mils).
-
Thread Torque and Engagement: Hand-tighten the probe into the threaded mounting port. The class of thread fit must match, and the maximum thread engagement must not exceed 0.563 inches to prevent binding or casing damage.
-
Cable Care and Routing: Do not exceed the minimum bend radius of the coaxial cable. Route cable runs separately from high-voltage AC electrical lines to avoid signal interference.
-
Coaxial Connection: Join the integrated probe cable to the extension cable by pushing the gold ClickLoc connectors together until they firmly click. No special tools are required for finger-tight ClickLoc connections.
Compliance and Certifications
This proximity probe is manufactured to Bently Nevada's high industrial engineering standards for machinery protection systems. Because this specific SKU is configured with the "00" Agency Approval option, hazardous area certifications (such as ATEX, IECEx, or CSA approvals) are not active. It is intended for installation in general industrial, non-hazardous locations and benign machinery environments.
