The General Electric IS200EDEXG1B receives 24 VDC operating power and is typically installed within an auxiliary cabinet equipped with a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) de-excitation system. During a commanded de-excitation event, the SCR establishes a conduction path through the field discharge inductor, allowing field current to decay and stored magnetic energy to dissipate. If SCR triggering control becomes unavailable, the board incorporates overvoltage firing protection through a break-over diode string connected between the gate and anode circuits.
As part of the EX2100 excitation control architecture, the module supports generator protection functions by ensuring controlled field discharge during normal shutdowns and fault conditions. Hall effect conduction sensors mounted within a circular steel core provide current monitoring capability for de-excitation operations.
