Description

Option 01 (10 mm unthreaded length) and Option 06 (60 mm case length) specify this metric M10 x 1 threaded proximity probe configuration — 330103-01-06-05-02-05, an eddy-current proximity probe used in 3300 XL monitoring systems. This configuration incorporates a 0.5-meter standard cable (Option 05) with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector (Option 02) and carries CSA, ATEX, and IECEx agency approvals (Option 05) for installation in hazardous areas.

This probe features an M10 x 1 metric thread without armor, distinguishing it from the 330104 series which includes protective stainless steel armor. With a total length of 0.5 meters, this variant pairs with standard 3300 XL extension cables and Proximitor sensors to form a complete 5-meter or 9-meter transducer system. The unarmored design is suited for installations where routing is protected by conduit, preventing the added weight and rigid bend limits of armored models.

Features

  • M10 x 1 Metric Threads: Threaded steel body without armor, designed for direct-mount installation in machinery housings.
  • 10 mm Unthreaded Length (Option 01): Features a short unthreaded tip section to allow customized mounting depth and clearance.
  • 60 mm Case Length (Option 06): Mid-range case length suitable for medium-depth access bores.
  • 0.5 Meter Cable Length (Option 05): Compact 0.5-meter (1.6 ft) integrated cable length that connects directly to an extension cable.
  • ClickLoc Coaxial Connector (Option 02): Gold-plated miniature click-type connector without a connector protector, for standard connections.
  • Hazardous Area Approvals (Option 05): Certified for intrinsically safe and non-incendive environments under CSA, ATEX, and IECEx frameworks.

Applications

The 330103-01-06-05-02-05 proximity probe is used for shaft vibration, axial position, and speed measurements on rotating machinery. Typical applications include:

  • Steam and gas turbine shaft vibration and position monitoring in power generation plants.
  • Centrifugal compressor and expander rotor monitoring in petrochemical facilities.
  • High-speed industrial pump shaft position tracking in oil and gas production.
  • Gearbox shaft alignment and speed sensing in mining and heavy industrial plants.
  • Industrial fan and blower bearing housing monitoring in water treatment facilities.

Installation Guidelines

To obtain proper measurement results and prevent physical damage during operation, observe the following guidelines when installing the probe:

  • Thread Torque: When installing the M10 x 1 threaded case, do not exceed the maximum rated installation torque of 22.6 N-m (200 in-lbf). The recommended nominal torque is 7.5 N-m (66 in-lbf) for standard installations.
  • Cable Routing: Ensure the integrated 75 Ohm coaxial cable is routed away from high-voltage cables or strong electromagnetic sources. Maintain the minimum allowable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) to prevent internal conductor damage.
  • Probe Clearance: Maintain adequate radial and axial clearance around the probe tip from surrounding target surfaces (other than the target area) to prevent cross-talk or side-wall interference.
  • Connector Protection: Hand-tighten the miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector to the extension cable. Since this configuration (Option 02) does not include a pre-installed connector protector, it is recommended to apply silicone self-fusing tape or a separate connector sleeve in high-moisture or oil-mist environments.
  • Hazardous Areas: For intrinsically safe installations, wire the probe through certified zener barriers or galvanic isolators according to Bently Nevada control drawing 141092.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CSA/NRTL/C: Class I, Zone 0: AEx/Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga; Class I, Groups A, B, C, and D; Class II, Groups E, F, and G; Class III (when installed per drawing 141092).
  • ATEX/IECEx: Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga, Ex ia IIIC T90degC...T280degC Dc; Ex nA IIC T5...T1 Gc, Ex ec IIC T5...T1 Gc (when installed per drawing 140979/141092).
  • EMC: EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions) for industrial environments; European Directive 2014/30/EU.
  • RoHS: Complies with European Directive 2011/65/EU and SJ/T 11364-2024 (China RoHS).
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 certified (HFT = 0), SIL 3 capable (HFT = 1) in standard configuration.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330103-01-06-05-02-05 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe

What does the configuration 330103-01-06-05-02-05 signify?

This Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe features an M10 x 1 metric thread, a 10 mm unthreaded length (Option 01), a 60 mm overall case length (Option 06), a 0.5-meter total cable length (Option 05), a standard cable with a ClickLoc connector and no connector protector (Option 02), and CSA, ATEX, and IECEx hazardous area approvals (Option 05).

Is the cable on the 330103-01-06-05-02-05 probe armored?

No, this model is configured without armor (base 330103). If your installation requires flexible stainless steel armor to protect the cable from physical abrasion, you should select the 330104 series instead.

Does this probe include a connector protector?

No, Option 02 specifies a miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector without a pre-installed connector protector. For applications requiring environmental protection at the connection point, you can wrap the connection with self-fusing silicone tape.

What extension cables and Proximitor sensors are compatible with this probe?

The probe has a total length of 0.5 meters. To form a complete 5.0-meter transducer system, it must be paired with a 4.5-meter extension cable and a 5.0-meter Proximitor sensor. For a 9.0-meter system, pair it with an 8.5-meter extension cable and a 9.0-meter Proximitor sensor.

What are the installation torque limits for this metric probe?

When mounting the M10 x 1 threaded probe body, the maximum rated torque limit is 22.6 N-m (200 in-lbf). To prevent damage to the threads, a nominal tightening torque of 7.5 N-m (66 in-lbf) is recommended.
