Description

330106-05-30-05-02-05 specifies this 3300 XL 8 mm reverse mount proximity probe with M10 x 1 metric threads. This configuration is built with a 5.0 mm unthreaded length (Option 05), a 30 mm overall case length (Option 30), and a 0.5 meter total cable length (Option 05) terminated with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector (Option 02) without a connector protector. It is approved for use in hazardous areas with CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications (Option 05).

Unlike standard mount probes which install from the front of a mounting bracket, reverse mount probes are designed to be installed from the rear. This design is ideal for applications where access to the front of the probe is restricted or where space is limited. By utilising an M10 x 1 metric threaded body, this probe directly integrates into machinery casings without requiring auxiliary sleeve accessories. It operates as part of a complete 3300 XL transducer loop when paired with a matching 3300 XL extension cable and Proximitor sensor, providing accurate non-contact shaft vibration and displacement measurements on rotating machines.

Features

  • Metric Reverse Mount Housing: M10 x 1 threaded body designed for rear-installation configurations where front-side access is restricted or obstructed.
  • 5.0 mm Unthreaded Portion: Option 05 specifies a 5.0 mm unthreaded section at the tip, with the remaining case length threaded.
  • 0.5 Meter Total Length: Option 05 provides a compact 0.5-meter integral coaxial cable length, typically connected to an extension cable.
  • Miniature Coaxial ClickLoc Connector: Option 02 provides a gold-plated coaxial connector without an additional connector protector.
  • Hazardous Area Certifications: Option 05 provides CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals for use in intrinsically safe and non-incendive environments.
  • Viton O-Ring Pressure Seal: Seals differential pressure between the probe tip and the connector.

Applications

  • Shaft vibration and position monitoring in rotating machinery.
  • Hydroelectric generators and steam or gas turbines where front probe access is obstructed.
  • High-pressure fluid environments requiring direct casing seal.
  • Industrial rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, and gearboxes.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure standard machinery protection practices are observed when installing the reverse mount probe:

  • Rear Insertion: Thread the probe case into the M10 x 1 mounting bracket or housing sleeve from the rear of the mounting face.
  • Thread Engagement: The maximum thread engagement length for M10 x 1 threads is 15 mm. Do not exceed this limit to avoid binding or cross-threading during installation.
  • Target Clearance: Position the probe tip such that it has at least 8.0 mm of clear space from any surrounding metal to avoid side-view interference.
  • Connector Tightening: Connect standard 3300 XL coaxial connectors finger-tight. Do not use pliers, as this can damage the gold ClickLoc contact surfaces.
  • Environment and Sealing: Ensure the operating temperature does not drop below -34 degC to protect the Viton O-ring seal from hardening and failing.

Compliance and Certifications

  • ATEX/IECEx: Intrinsically Safe (Class I, Zone 0, Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga) and Non-Incendive/Type n/ec (Class I, Zone 2, Ex nA/Ex ec IIC T4/T5 Gc) when connected via barriers.
  • CSA Approval: Certified for Class I, Division 1 and Division 2 environments.
  • CE Mark: Complies with standard European Union machinery protection and electromagnetic compatibility directives.

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330106-05-30-05-02-05 3300 XL 8 mm Reverse Mount Proximity Probe

What does the 330106-05-30-05-02-05 configuration represent?

This model represents a 3300 XL 8 mm metric reverse mount proximity probe with M10 x 1 threads, featuring a fixed 5.0 mm unthreaded length, a 30 mm overall case length, a 0.5 meter total cable length, a standard miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector, and CSA/ATEX/IECEx hazardous area approvals.

How is a reverse mount probe installed compared to standard probes?

Reverse mount probes are designed for rear-installation. Instead of being threaded from the outside of the machine casing, they are threaded in from the back or rear of the mounting location, making them ideal for applications with limited front-side clearance.

Why are the unthreaded length (05) and case length (30) fixed on the 330106 probe?

For Bently Nevada's 330106 metric reverse mount series, the mechanical design is standardized to a 30 mm case length with a 5.0 mm unthreaded portion to allow consistent, secure installation from the reverse side of a mounting sleeve or bulkhead.

What is the function of the Viton O-ring seal in this reverse mount probe?

The probe is constructed with a Viton O-ring that seals differential pressure between the probe tip and the connector. To avoid premature failure of this pressure seal, the probe should not be exposed to temperatures below -34 degC.

Can this probe be used with other Bently Nevada transducer systems?

This probe is part of the 3300 XL 8 mm transducer system. For proper operation and a system output of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil), it must be connected to a 3300 XL standard extension cable and a 3300 XL Proximitor sensor.
