Description

Option 000 (0 mm unthreaded length), Option 100 (100 mm overall case length), and Option 02 (standard coaxial cable with ClickLoc connector) specify this M14 x 1.5 metric, unarmored 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe configuration — 330703-000-100-10-02-05. This non-contacting eddy-current displacement probe provides a 3.94 V/mm (100 mV/mil) output when paired with a compatible 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor sensor and extension cable, facilitating vibration and displacement measurements on fluid film bearing machines.

Unlike configuration variants that incorporate protective stainless steel armor or integrated connector protectors (such as Option 01 or Option 11), this variant features a standard, unarmored 1.0-meter triaxial cable terminating in a gold-plated miniature male ClickLoc coaxial connector (Option 02). It is supplied with Option 05 approvals, matching multiple global hazardous area certifications including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx. The unarmored M14 x 1.5 metric threaded case is intended for direct installation inside standard machinery housing penetrations where external conduit or cable tracks provide dedicated mechanical containment.

Features

  • Wide 4.0 mm (160 mil) linear measurement range starting approximately 0.5 mm (20 mils) from the target surface.
  • Metric M14 x 1.5 threaded steel housing with 0 mm unthreaded length (Option 000) and 100 mm overall case length (Option 100).
  • Standard unarmored triaxial cable of 1.0 meter (Option 10) for high-frequency signal transmission with minimal electrical attenuation.
  • Gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector (Option 02) providing a mechanical lock that prevents connection loosening under vibration.
  • Option 05 multiple agency approval package supporting installation in explosive gas and dust atmospheres.
  • Patented TipLoc molding method establishing a mechanical bond between the polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip and the AISI 304 stainless steel case.
  • Patented CableLoc cable-to-tip anchorage rated to withstand up to 330 N (75 lb) of pull tension.

Applications

  • Steam turbine rotor position, axial (thrust) position, and ramp differential expansion measurements.
  • Reciprocating compressor rod drop and rod position tracking where wide linear range is required.
  • Compressor and utility turbine shaft radial vibration monitoring.
  • Tachometer, zero-speed, and phase reference (Keyphasor) signal generation.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure correct mechanical installation and connection handling by observing the following technical directives:

  • Maximum Thread Engagement: Do not exceed a thread engagement length of 21 mm inside the mounting housing. Engagement beyond 21 mm can lead to thread binding and damage.
  • Torque Limits: Tighten the metric probe case to the recommended installation torque of 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb). The absolute maximum rated torque is 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb).
  • ClickLoc Coaxial Connection: Join the miniature coaxial connectors by hand until they click securely into position. The maximum allowed torque for manual tightening accessories is 0.565 N-m (5 in-lb); do not use heavy-duty mechanical pliers.
  • Cable Minimum Bend Radius: Route the unarmored cable with a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) to protect the internal FEP insulation and prevent core conductor fatigue.
  • Pressure Sealing: The probe has a built-in Viton O-ring to manage differential pressure sealing between the tip assembly and probe body. Probes are not factory pressure-tested; external pressure boundary checks are recommended for direct process sealing.

Compliance and Certifications

This probe configuration carries the Option 05 Multiple Approvals classification, meeting standards for installation in hazardous locations:

  • ATEX/IECEx: Intrinsically safe (ia) and non-sparking/increased safety (nA, ec) protection zone ratings when deployed in accordance with certified Bently Nevada installation drawings.
  • CSA: Approved for Class I, Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous area categories.
  • EMC Standards: Conforms to EN 61000-6-2 (Industrial Immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (Industrial Emissions) under European Directive 2014/30/EU.
  • RoHS: Compliant with EU Directive 2011/65/EU and China RoHS regulations.

What does the unarmored housing configuration mean for this probe?

The unarmored design means the 1.0-meter coaxial cable does not have a stainless steel protective armor conduit. It is designed for installations where the cable is routed inside existing dedicated metal conduits or protected machinery cases.

What are the thread and case dimensions on this specific 330703 variant?

This variant features an M14 x 1.5 metric thread with 0 mm of unthreaded length (Option 000) and an overall case length of 100 mm (Option 100).

Can this probe be used in hazardous areas?

Yes. With the Option 05 agency approval, this probe is fully certified for use in intrinsically safe and non-sparking zones under CSA, ATEX, and IECEx guidelines.

What is the connector and cable configuration for this SKU?

It is configured with Option 02, which features a standard unarmored triaxial cable terminating in a gold-plated miniature male ClickLoc coaxial connector without an integrated connector protector.
