Description

Option 000 (0 mm unthreaded length), Option 050 (50 mm overall case length), Option 10 (1.0 m total length), and Option 02 (standard ClickLoc connector, standard cable) specify this metric M16 x 1.5 unarmored proximity probe configuration — 330709-000-050-10-02-00. This non-contact eddy-current sensor is used in the 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Transducer System to measure shaft vibration and axial position on fluid-film bearing machines. The 11 mm probe tip provides a longer linear range of 4.0 mm (160 mils) compared to standard 8 mm probe systems, making it suitable for larger industrial machines where greater displacement measurements are required.

Unlike the 330710 sister configuration which includes protective stainless steel armor, the 330709 model features an unarmored triaxial cable, making it easier to route through conduit and tight machinery housings. This configuration also uses Option 00 for agency approvals, which is specified for standard, non-hazardous industrial installations where local hazardous area certifications are not required.

Features

  • M16 x 1.5 Metric Thread: Metric standard mount threaded case without stainless steel armor (330709 base model).
  • 0 mm Unthreaded Length: AAA code 000 provides a fully threaded case length of 50 mm.
  • 50 mm Case Length: BBB code 050 specifies standard 50 mm overall case length.
  • 1.0 Meter Total Length: CC code 10 provides a 1.0 m (3.3 feet) integrated probe cable, designed to link with standard 3300 XL 11 mm extension cables.
  • ClickLoc Coaxial Connector: DD code 02 provides a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable insulation.
  • No Approvals Required: EE code 00 is selected for installations where hazardous area approvals are not required.
  • Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) Tip: Wear-resistant tip material suited for high-temperature and oil-exposed environments.

Applications

  • Axial Thrust Position: Measuring axial shaft movement in steam turbines and compressors.
  • Ramp Differential Expansion: Monitoring casing-to-rotor differential growth on steam turbine systems.
  • Rod Position and Rod Drop: Assessing piston rod wear in reciprocating compressors.
  • Tachometer and Speed Sensing: Capturing zero speed and high-speed tachometer signals.
  • Phase Reference: Generating Keyphasor signals for machine speed and vibration phase analysis.

Installation Guidelines

  • Probe Mounting: Mount the probe securely in a threaded bracket or mounting bushing. Ensure class of fit matches the external M16 x 1.5 thread to prevent binding.
  • Maximum Torque Limit: Tighten the probe case to a recommended torque of 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb). Do not exceed the maximum rated torque of 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb) to prevent case damage.
  • Connector Care: Keep coaxial connector contacts clean and dry. Finger-tighten the ClickLoc coaxial connection, ensuring it click-locks into place. Do not exceed a torque of 0.565 N-m (5 in-lb).
  • Cable Routing: Observe the minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) to prevent internal triaxial conductor damage. Secure the unarmored FEP cable within conduits or cable trays to prevent abrasive wear.

Compliance and Certifications

  • EMC Directive: Compliant with European Community Directive 2014/30/EU (EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4) for industrial environments.
  • RoHS Directive: Compliant with European Community Directive 2011/65/EU.
