Description

330881-28-09-123-03-02: PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer, featuring an integrated 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with multiple agency approvals (Option 28), a 90 mm metric standoff adapter (Option 09), a precise 123 mm probe sleeve penetration length (Option 123), a single M20 conduit fitting with two plugs (Option 03), and a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread (Option 02).

The integrated design of the PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer Assembly combines both the proximity probe and the Proximitor sensor into a single, self-contained mechanical package. By eliminating the high-frequency extension cable between the probe and Proximitor, this system minimizes potential signal loss, connector wear, and wiring errors. Field wiring from the monitoring system connects directly to internal terminals inside the rugged housing, eliminating the need for separate Proximitor enclosures. Constructed from glass-reinforced Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic with conductive fibers, the housing safely dissipates electrostatic charges and is rated for IP66 and NEMA Type 4X environments, providing superior resistance to corrosive chemicals, hot water, and high humidity.

Features

  • Option 28 includes a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with Multiple Approvals.
  • Option 09 specifies a 90 mm metric standoff adapter length.
  • Option 123 provides a precise 123 mm metric probe sleeve penetration depth.
  • Option 03 delivers one M20 conduit fitting and two plugs.
  • Option 02 equips the system with a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread.
  • Self-contained design eliminates separate Proximitor housings and extension cables.
  • Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic housing offers excellent chemical and environmental resistance.
  • Conductive fiber formulation prevents electrostatic charge accumulation.
  • IP66 and Type 4X protection ratings for severe industrial installations.

Applications

  • Shaft vibration and axial position measurement on industrial rotating machinery.
  • Steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, and high-speed pumps with restricted external mounting space.
  • Corrosive or severe industrial environments requiring NEMA Type 4X and IP66 rated enclosures.
  • Hazardous areas requiring intrinsically safe or non-incendive transducer configurations.

Connections and Interfaces

Field wiring terminals are located within the housing lid and connect directly to the integrated 3300 XL Proximitor sensor. Use a 3-conductor, twisted, shielded cable of 1.0 mm2 (18 AWG) for connections between the transducer assembly and the monitoring system. Keep shield connections isolated from the transmitter housing and grounded at the monitoring rack.

Installation Guidelines

  • Cable Protection: Route field wiring through the M20 conduit fitting. Ensure that proper sealing is used at the conduit entry to prevent moisture from traveling down the conduit into the transmitter enclosure.
  • Mounting Torque: Tighten the probe sleeve locknut to 39.3 N-m (350 in-lb) and the outer sleeve housing retaining nut to 29.5 N-m (260 in-lb) to maintain structural integrity and a solid environmental seal.
  • Physical Adjustments: The threaded sleeve assembly allows for +/-12.7 mm (+/-0.5 in) of mechanical adjustment to facilitate physical positioning and probe gapping.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE Mark: Compliant with applicable European directives.
  • ATEX / IECEx (Multiple Approvals): Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga, Ex ia IIIC T90C/T105C Dc when installed with intrinsically safe zener barriers or galvanic isolators.
  • cNRTLus (Multiple Approvals): Class I, Zone 0: AEx/Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga; Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D.
  • Non-Incendive: Ex nA IIC T4/T5 Gc; Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D when installed per manufacturer control drawings.
