Description

Option BR specifies a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with INMETRO (Brazil) hazardous area approvals integrated inside this metric PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer assembly — 330881-BR-04-145-06-02. This configuration combines a non-contact eddy-current probe and a 3300 XL Proximitor sensor directly within a single glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) housing. This integrated design removes the need for an external extension cable and separate Proximitor housing, allowing field wiring to connect directly from the monitor to the transducer assembly. This metric configuration is built with a 40 mm standoff adapter (Option 04) and a 145 mm probe penetration sleeve (Option 145), coupled with specific SST reducers and fittings (Option 06) and a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread (Option 02).

The PPS housing material replaces traditional metals, incorporating glass and conductive fibers to strengthen the assembly and dissipate electrostatic charges. Rated for Type 4X and IP66 environments, the housing protects the internal electrical components in severe environments. The internal probe consists of a 1-meter triaxial cable constructed with fluoroethylene propylene (FEP) insulation, terminating in a gold-plated ClickLoc connector. Integrating both probe and sensor together reduces installation steps and cabling costs on critical rotating machinery.

Features

  • Option BR provides an integrated 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with INMETRO (Brazil) hazardous area approvals.
  • Option 04 specifies a 40 mm standoff adapter length (B Dimension).
  • Option 145 specifies a 145 mm probe penetration length (C Dimension) in the sleeve assembly.
  • Option 06 includes a fittings kit consisting of one 3/4-14 NPT fitting, one 3/4-14 NPT to 1/2-14 NPT stainless steel reducer, and two plugs.
  • Option 02 provides a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread (required for standoff adapter configurations).
  • Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic housing is glass and conductive fiber-reinforced to dissipate electrostatic charges.
  • Type 4X and IP66 environmental ratings provide protection against hose-directed water and environmental ingress.
  • Triaxial FEP-insulated 1-meter probe cable with a gold-plated ClickLoc connector connects probe to the integrated Proximitor sensor.

Applications

Used in industrial rotating machinery such as gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, pumps, and fans where external probe adjustment is required but space or wiring runs do not permit separate Proximitor housings.

Installation Guidelines

  • The PROXPAC XL design seals differential pressure between the probe tip and the housing main body when used with a 3300 XL 8 mm probe.
  • Ensure sleeve assemblies with combined standoff and penetration dimensions greater than 305 mm (12.0 in) receive additional sleeve support near the probe tip to stiffen the assembly against resonance.
  • Adjust the threaded sleeve within the +/-12.7 mm (0.5 in) allowable margin to establish the appropriate probe gap.
  • Implement correct grounding and shielding practices to prevent electrical interference from impacting signal quality.
  • Prevent ingress of external fluids and moisture by routing conduits with appropriate drip loops and sealing field entries properly.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE Mark (EMC Directive 2014/30/EU; RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU)
  • CSA/NRTL/C Class I, Zone 0: AEx/Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga; Class I, Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Groups E, F, G; Class III
  • ATEX/IECEx Ex II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4/T5 Ga; Ex ia IIIC T90C/T105C Dc
