Description

Option BR specifies INMETRO (Brazil) Multiple Approvals with an integrated 3300 XL 8 mm probe, while Option 04 and Option 85 provide a 40 mm standoff adapter and 85 mm probe penetration for this metric assembly — the 330881-BR-04-85-03-02 PROXPAC XL Proximity Transducer.

This integrated design brings together the proximity probe, sleeve, and 3300 XL Proximitor sensor into a single, self-contained polymer housing. By eliminating the typical extension cable between probe and sensor, the assembly reduces field wiring complexity and simplifies installation on rotating machinery. The housing cover is molded from glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic with conductive fibers, providing Type 4X and IP66 protection against harsh chemical and moisture environments. Field wiring runs directly from the integrated terminal connections to monitoring systems, removing the need for a separate Proximitor sensor enclosure.

Features

  • Option BR provides INMETRO (Brazil) hazardous area approvals for zone-rated environments.
  • Option 04 includes a 40 mm metric stainless steel standoff adapter to match specific casing clearances.
  • Option 85 defines a probe penetration sleeve length of 85 mm.
  • Option 03 supplies a metric installation fitting kit with one M20 conduit fitting and two plugs.
  • Option 02 utilizes a standard 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread for rigid mechanical attachment.
  • Self-contained design combines a 3300 XL 8 mm probe and a 1-meter Proximitor sensor in one housing.
  • Glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) housing resists chemical degradation and dissipates electrostatic charges.
  • Direct terminal-to-monitor field wiring eliminates intermediate extension cables and separate driver enclosures.

Applications

  • Shaft vibration and axial position monitoring on large industrial rotating assets.
  • Continuous machinery protection in oil and gas, petrochemical, and power generation environments.
  • Environments requiring strict compliance with Brazilian INMETRO hazardous area standards.
  • Wet, corrosive, or high-moisture installations where Type 4X and IP66 environmental protection is required.

Installation Guidelines

Ensure correct mechanical alignment of the outer sleeve assembly during insertion. The standoff adapter must be properly threaded and torqued to avoid loose mechanical coupling. Maintain a recommended gap setting of 1.27 mm (50 mils) between the probe tip and target shaft surface. Use 3-conductor shielded twisted-pair field wiring of 0.2 to 1.5 mm2 (16 to 24 AWG) to connect directly to the integrated Proximitor terminal block inside the housing cover. Route the wiring through M20 fittings while sealing any unused conduit entrances using the supplied blanking plugs to maintain the IP66 and Type 4X rating.

Compliance and Certifications

The integrated transducer is certified with INMETRO hazardous area approvals for zone-rated environments in Brazil. The outer housing holds an IP66 rating verified by BASEEFA and complies with the European CE mark requirements.
