Installation Guidelines

CRITICAL WARNING

De-energize all connected control circuits before mounting or servicing. Capacitors within the IPC retain charge after power removal. Disconnect 24 V DC supply and wait 60 seconds before handling connectors. Failure to observe electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions will result in permanent hardware damage.

1 Verify panel cutout dimensions match the 19-inch format. Ensure rear clearance of at least 100 mm for cable bending radius and heat dissipation.

2 Connect the 24 V DC power line using appropriately sized ferrules. Torque M4 terminal screws to 0.8 N-m. Reverse polarity protection is active, but incorrect wiring may trigger internal fuses.

3 Ground the chassis via the PE (Protective Earth) terminal on the power connector. Use a copper conductor with minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm². Do not rely solely on DIN rail grounding for EMC compliance.

4 For PROFIBUS DP termination, activate the built-in terminating resistor via DIP switch if the unit is the last node on the bus segment. Set the PROFIBUS address via hardware DIP switches prior to applying power.

Is STEP 5 software supported on this device?

No. The device runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, which is incompatible with STEP 5. It supports STEP7 Professional and STEP 7 Micro/WIN V4.0.

What is the purpose of the included MPI cable?

The MPI cable connects the Field PG to the MPI/DP interface of SIMATIC S7-300 or S7-400 PLCs for programming and diagnostics.

Can the RAM be upgraded beyond 16 GB?

No. The system is configured with two 8 GB modules populating both available slots. The chipset supports a maximum of 16 GB.

Does the device include an S5-EPROMMER interface?

No. This Premium Plus model is configured without the S5 interface and S5-EPROMMER functionality.
