The HG-SR52 serves as the direct modern replacement for the legacy HC-SFS52 series. While physical mounting dimensions are highly compatible, the HG-SR52 features a significantly higher resolution 22-bit encoder compared to the older 17-bit systems. When upgrading, ensure that the paired servo amplifier is updated with the correct motor parameters to prevent initialization faults.
In high-duty cycle applications, monitor the motor's continuous effective torque to ensure it remains below the 2.4 N-m rated threshold. Exceeding this limit in poorly ventilated enclosures will trigger thermal overload faults (AL.50 or AL.51) on the MR-J4 amplifier. If the motor is mounted vertically, ensure proper cable routing to prevent oil or water from pooling at the connector entry points, as the standard HG-SR52 does not include an oil seal (use the HG-SR52J variant if an oil seal is required).
Always use genuine Mitsubishi encoder cables (such as the MR-EKCBL-M series) to maintain signal integrity for the high-resolution 22-bit feedback. Ensure the encoder cable shield is properly grounded at the amplifier chassis to prevent high-frequency noise interference from causing encoder communication errors (AL.1A or AL.20).
CRITICAL WARNING:
Ensure all input power (both main circuit and control circuit) is completely disconnected and locked out before attempting installation or maintenance. Wait at least 15 minutes after power-off for the internal amplifier bus capacitors to discharge fully. Verify zero voltage across the terminals before handling motor connections.
Mount the motor securely to a rigid, flat machine base to minimize vibration and ensure precise shaft alignment.
Align the shaft coupling carefully, keeping radial and thrust loads within the specified limits (980 N radial, 490 N thrust).
Connect the power and encoder cables, ensuring the connectors are fully locked to maintain the IP67 environmental seal.
Ground the motor frame securely to the main protective earth (PE) terminal of the control panel.
