Installation Guidelines

  • Expansion Connection: The XWT-ID16 is an expansion unit. It must be connected to a master remote I/O terminal (such as a CRT1 series CompoNet slave). Ensure the expansion connector is securely seated before powering the system.

  • Wiring Precautions: Use M3 crimp terminals for the I/O block. To prevent electrical noise interference, separate the 24V DC input wiring from high-voltage power lines.

  • Common Terminal: Note that all 16 inputs share a single common terminal. Ensure the external power supply capacity matches the total current draw of all sensors.

  • Heat Dissipation: When mounting multiple expansion units side-by-side, ensure the ambient temperature does not exceed 55°C. Maintain standard vertical orientation for optimal airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can the XWT-ID16 be used as a standalone PLC?

No. This is an expansion I/O unit. It requires a master communication head (like a CompoNet or DeviceNet slave terminal) to interface with a PLC or industrial controller.

Does it support both NPN and PNP sensors?

Yes. The module logic is determined by how you wire the common terminal. If you connect the common to the positive terminal, it acts as NPN; if to the negative, it acts as PNP.

Is the terminal block removable?

Yes, most XWT series modules feature a removable terminal block to allow for easier wiring and unit replacement without disconnecting every individual wire.

What is the maximum response time?

The hardware delay is approximately 1.5 ms. However, the total system response time will also depend on the network cycle time of the master communication protocol (e.g., CompoNet cycle time).
