Product Description

Description

The Yokogawa SSB401-13 is a highly reliable ESB Bus Interface Module engineered for the CENTUM VP integrated production control system. This module is designed to provide an efficient ESB Bus optical transport function, operating exclusively within Vnet/IP network architectures. It enables extended long-distance communication links and is typically installed on safety node units, such as the SNB10D, to seamlessly bridge the safety control system backplane across diverse layout distances. Supporting versatile network topologies, the SSB401-13 facilitates robust and deterministic real-time communication across modern complex process automation architectures.

Features

  • Implements dedicated ESB Bus optical transport functionality designed exclusively for Vnet/IP system frameworks.
  • Versatile network topology support accommodating star type, chain type, or combined star and chain configurations.
  • High-distance extensions ranging from 5 km up to 50 km over verified optical fiber paths.
  • Supports multi-stage topologies with a maximum allocation of two connecting stages.
  • Built to maintain precise signal levels with integrated optical power attenuation management.

Applications

  • Long-distance inter-node distributed safety networks in safety control systems.
  • Petrochemical plants, offshore platforms, and wide-area industrial processing facilities.
  • High-integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPS) and emergency shutdown (ESD) applications.

Installation Guidelines

  • Optical Attenuation Management: Attenuate the optical power by 3-4 dB in between SNT411 and SNT511, S2EN501 and SNT511, or SNT411 and S2EN501.
  • Attenuator Requirements: When the optical attenuation by the optical fiber cable is less than 3 dB, an inline attenuator must be used to reduce the overall attenuation by 3 dB.
  • Legacy Style Codes: When both the SNT411's and SNT511's style codes are S1, apply an attenuator to reduce the network attenuation by 1-2 dB.
