The NISA-03 is a specialized DDCS/ISA adapter interface board configured to enable direct control and monitoring of the ABB ACS 600 product family drives (also referred to as ACx 600) from a personal desktop computer. This electronic adapter board establishes a high-speed communication link that permits the execution of DriveWare PC software, such as DriveWindow, for drive commissioning, diagnostics, and parameter management. Operating over two distinct optical channels utilizing the proprietary DDCS protocol, the module provides a reliable fiber optic bridge to network-managed application and motor control boards.

Installation Guidelines

  • Electrostatic Precaution: Ensure an earthing wristband is worn during all handling phases, as the integrated circuits on the board are highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
  • Address Configuration: Check the host PC configuration to ensure no existing interface card utilizes the default base address space of 280H. If a conflict occurs, adjust the onboard DIP switches (IAS0 to IAS2) to select the alternative 2A0H address profile.
  • Card Insertion: Firmly and evenly press the adapter card into an available 16-bit ISA slot on the powered-down computer motherboard and secure the bracket with the retention screw.
  • Fiber Optic Handling: Do not exceed the maximum long-term tensile load of 1 N or bend the fiber cables past the minimum short-term bend radius of 35 mm. Avoid touching bare fiber ends, and protect routing paths inside the drive using rubber grommets.
  • Electrical Safety Warning: Never perform work inside the frequency converter while it is energized. Disconnect the main supply line and wait at least 5 minutes for the drive intermediate circuit capacitors to fully discharge before accessing the internal terminals.
