Description

IMMFP12 functions as a multi-loop analog, sequential, batch, and function-code controller within the INFI 90 OPEN system. It performs process control, data acquisition, and information processing while supporting peer-to-peer communication between intelligent modules.

The processor exchanges process data with analog and digital I/O modules through the I/O Expander Bus. It can communicate with up to 64 low-power I/O modules in any combination. The internal DMA circuitry transfers communication data directly to or from RAM without continuous microprocessor intervention.

Two general-purpose serial channels support station and external device communication. The module also provides Controlway communication, module bus operation, and a dedicated processor redundancy link.

A primary and backup processor can operate in a redundant configuration. The backup remains in hot standby and receives block output data from the primary processor. Control transfers to the backup processor if the primary processor goes offline.

Installation Guidelines

  • Verify module mounting unit compatibility before installation.
  • Check whether the backplane supplies -30 VDC before setting jumper J5.
  • Use a grounded wrist strap when handling the circuit board.
  • Keep the module inside its static shielding bag until installation.
  • Handle the assembly by its edges and avoid touching circuitry.
  • Verify all SW3 and SW4 dipswitch settings before operation.
  • Verify jumpers J1 through J5 before inserting the module.
  • Use identical module addresses for redundant processors.
  • Use matching SW4 settings for redundant processors.
  • Verify matching firmware revisions in primary and backup processors.
  • Disconnect cabinet power before installing backplane dipshunts.
  • Install 24-pin dipshunts between associated I/O Expander Bus slots.
  • Keep Controlway-linked mounting units within the same cabinet.
  • Do not connect more than eight related mounting units in one cabinet.
  • Connect NTMP01, NIMP01, or NIMP02 termination hardware using the specified cables.
  • Confirm all cables connect to the assigned module mounting unit slot.
  • Seat the module firmly in the backplane connectors.
  • Secure the module using both faceplate latching screws.
  • Keep cabinet doors closed during operation.
  • Keep portable communication equipment at least 2 meters from the cabinet.
  • Operate and store the module in a noncorrosive environment.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CSA certified for use as process control equipment in an ordinary nonhazardous location.
  • Factory Mutual approved for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations.
