Description

The ABB IMSED01 Harmony Sequence of Events Digital Input Module provides distributed event monitoring, recording, and reporting capabilities for the Symphony Enterprise Management and Control System. It monitors digital signal transitions from either on to off or from off to on. These digital state transitions are collected at the Harmony Control Unit (HCU) level and forwarded to the INSEM01 Master module for time-stamping, sorting, and storage in an internal database. The module processes up to 16 digital field inputs for its designated Harmony controller. It does not process time synchronization link information directly, relying instead on its controller to interface configuration and access data. The module consists of a single printed circuit board that installs inside a dedicated slot within a module mounting unit.

Features

  • Processes up to 16 digital field inputs for the Harmony controller.
  • Interfaces via function code 242 (SOE digital event interface) to configure and access module input channels.
  • Supports up to 63 modules operating concurrently on a single I/O expander bus segment along with one IMSET01 module.
  • Connects to an NTDI01 termination unit via cable for external process field wiring terminations.
  • Configurable I/O channels through jumpers and switches on the printed circuit board.

Applications

  • Symphony Enterprise Management and Control System networks
  • Distributed sequence of events monitoring and recording
  • Harmony Control Unit digital event collection

Installation Guidelines

  • Hardware Configuration: Before inserting the module, adjust onboard jumpers and switches to set up hardware constraints. Ensure dispshunts on the related termination unit match the configuration needs of individual I/O channels.
  • Bus Limitations: Verify that no more than 63 digital input modules are connected along the same I/O expander bus segment.
  • Module Mounting: Place the single printed circuit board squarely inside its intended slot within the module mounting unit.
  • Field Wiring: Direct all physical field cabling points exclusively to the external NTDI01 termination unit.

Compliance and Certifications

  • CE Mark Declaration: Complies with EMC96 Directive 89/336/EEC (EN50082-2 Generic Immunity Standard - Part 2: Industrial Environment and EN50081-2 Generic Emission Standard - Part 2: Industrial Environment) and Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (EN61010-1 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use) when installed in a Symphony cabinet.
  • Canadian Standards Association (CSA): Certified for use as process control equipment in an ordinary (nonhazardous) location.
  • Factory Mutual (FM): Pending approval for Nonincendive: Class I Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D and Class II, Division 2, Groups F, G.
