The NMBP-01 is a fieldbus network connection interface designed to bridge variable speed drives directly into automated networks. This Modbus Plus Adapter Module acts exactly like a network node, establishing transparent communication for configuration, parameter modification, and high-speed feedback loop handling. The module features integrated dual-channel plastic fiber optic ports utilizing the Distributed Drives Communication System (DDCS) protocol to deliver localized electrical isolation between the logic circuit and power electronics. Engineered for critical environments, it enables control location command mapping, speed reference feeding, and direct parameter reads and writes via simulated holding register allocations.

Features

  • Seamless network device integration enabling full drive control mapping including start, stop, direction, and reference injection.
  • Dual physical layer interfaces featuring a standard 9-pin D-shell Modbus Plus fieldbus network connector and dedicated DDCS optical receivers and transmitters.
  • Global Data broadcasting capability supporting synchronous transfer up to 3 words of real-time control loop and feedback parameters.
  • Built-in local hardware diagnostics via specialized flashing Status LEDs and an integrated Modbus Plus network health indicator.
  • High-speed data update modes including an alternative fast architecture that bypasses standard logic counters to optimize processing times.

Applications

  • Variable speed motor drive coordination within large-scale Modicon Modbus Plus automation networks.
  • Multi-drive industrial configurations connecting up to 8 drives on a single token-passing segment.
  • Multi-level cross-network plant automation topologies spanning remote bridges and multiplexers.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mechanical Mounting: Snap the device directly onto a standard DIN mounting rail inside or outside the cabinet space. Ensure a minimum free clearance of 10 mm from adjacent components or enclosure structural walls.
  • Electrical Safety: Isolate all primary drive electrical connections before handling the unit. Allow a minimum period of 5 minutes for internal capacitor banks to fully discharge.
  • Fiber Optic Handling: Maintain a strict minimum short-term fiber cable bend radius of 25 mm. Never exceed the long-term structural tensile load rating of 1 N.
  • Network Earthing: Ensure the entire Modbus Plus fieldbus network cable shield remains entirely isolated from external ground sources at every point. Connect the local segment shield line exclusively to terminal X1:2.
