Installation Guidelines

  • Enclosure Requirements: The device must be mounted in a grounded conductive enclosure offering protection to IP55 to comply with UL and CE requirements.
  • Mounting Surface: Install the module inside the enclosure on a flat, rigid, vertical surface that is free from shock, vibration, moisture, oil mist, dust, or corrosive vapors.
  • Mounting Position: Mount the module exclusively in an upright position; do not mount the module on its side.
  • Airflow Clearances: Maintain a minimum clearance of 50.8 mm (2.0 inches) above and below the module for airflow and system access. A minimum cabinet depth clearance of 250 mm (9.8 inches) is required.
  • EMC Performance: Mount the line interface module on the same panel as the drive and as close to the drive as possible to minimize electrical noise.
  • Wiring Requirements: Use copper wire rated for a minimum of 75 degC. Secure connections according to these explicit specifications:
    • IPL / OPL Connectors: Wire size 2.5 to 25 mm² (14 to 4 AWG), strip length 16.0 mm (0.63 in), torque value 2.7 N-m (24 lb-in).
    • CPL / P2L Connectors: Wire size 0.2 to 4.0 mm² (24 to 10 AWG), strip length 7.0 mm (0.28 in), torque value 0.5 to 0.6 N-m (4.4 to 5.3 lb-in).
    • P1L Connector: Wire size 0.08 to 1.5 mm² (28 to 16 AWG), strip length 7.0 mm (0.28 in), torque value 0.22 to 0.25 N-m (1.9 to 2.2 lb-in).
    • IOL Connector: Wire size 0.5 to 1.5 mm² (22 to 14 AWG), strip length 6.0 mm (0.25 in), torque value 1.13 N-m (10 lb-in).
  • Grounding: Ensure the chassis earth ground connection is properly established from a grounded power configuration.

What is the function of the internal step-down transformer in the device?

The internal step-down transformer steps down the 460V AC incoming line voltage to provide control power outputs for the system.

Can the branch-circuit protection configuration be changed on the module?

Yes. By moving the internal wiring harness from J4 to J4_B, the operator can choose to connect the control and auxiliary circuit breakers either before or after the main disconnect.

What happens to the line contactor coil if the control power circuit breaker trips?

An auxiliary contact from the control power circuit breaker is wired in series with the contactor coil, causing it to immediately interrupt coil voltage and remove main power if a trip occurs.

What type of wire is required for making connections to the terminal plugs?
