Description

The BECKHOFF CX1020-N030 is a dedicated system interface module designed to extend the serial communication capabilities of the CX1020 Embedded PC series. This module adds two independent serial RS232 interfaces, designated as COM1 and COM2, to the controller assembly, allowing for direct communication with external devices that utilize standard serial protocols.

Connection is established via two standard 9-pin D-sub male plugs. The module is powered directly through the internal system bus from the connected CX1100-xxxx power supply module, eliminating the need for external wiring for module operation. The compact 19 mm housing is designed for seamless mounting onto a DIN rail alongside the CPU, ensuring a space-saving installation inside the control cabinet.

Installation Guidelines

1. Ensure the entire Embedded PC system and specifically the CX1100-xxxx power supply unit are completely powered down before attempting installation.
2. Verify that the BECKHOFF CX1020-N030 module is compatible with your CPU configuration and is not used in conjunction with incompatible modules such as the N031 or N041.
3. Align the interface module's system bus connectors with the adjacent CPU module.
4. Carefully slide the module into place until the physical connections are fully engaged and locked.
5. Mount the combined assembly onto a standard DIN rail.
6. Connect the external RS232 cables to the 9-pin D-sub connectors, ensuring appropriate shielding to maintain EMC performance.
7. Restore power to the system and proceed to configure the COM ports using the TwinCAT system management software.
