The BECKHOFF EL7047 is a high-performance EtherCAT Terminal designed as a 1-channel motion interface for direct connection and control of 2-phase stepper motors. Operating at voltages up to 48 V DC and supporting an output current of up to 5 A, this compact drive terminal integrates advanced field-oriented vector control and a dedicated feedback interface to deliver precise and dynamic motion control.
By implementing vector control, the BECKHOFF EL7047 optimizes motor operation by dynamically adjusting the current vector. This results in smoother motor rotation, significantly reduced resonance, lowered operating temperatures, and increased energy efficiency compared to standard microstepping methods. The integrated incremental encoder input enables closed-loop positioning, tracking, and travel distance control directly within the EtherCAT system architecture.
For demanding drive applications requiring increased thermal performance, the terminal's output current capacity can be expanded up to 6.5 A by mounting the optional ZB8610 fan cartridge. The 12 mm terminal housing fits seamlessly into standard EtherCAT Terminal segments, utilizing high-speed E-bus communication and Distributed Clocks (DC) for highly synchronized multi-axis coordination.
