Implementing 3-Switch XOR Ladder Logic with Internal Bit
Implement a 3-SPST switch XOR light circuit in LogixPro or RSLogix 500 using an internal relay bit. Includes truth tables, boolean equations, and verified.
Managing signal routing and power levels within decentralized topologies is simplified with this dedicated junction block. The Beckhoff EPP1332-0001 is a specialized EtherCAT P Box designed to branch EtherCAT P networks while simultaneously refreshing the critical system/sensor voltage (Us) and peripheral/actuator voltage (Up). By injecting fresh 24 V DC power, this module counteracts cumulative voltage drops across long daisy chains, ensuring stable operations for downstream nodes. Equipped with robust M8 P-coded connectors, it functions as a 2-port junction that splits a single incoming line into three separate downstream branches, making it ideal for distributed machinery installations.
| Parameter | Specification Value |

| Operating Temperature | -25 to +60 degC |
| Storage Temperature | -40 to +85 degC |
| Physical Weight | Approx. 165 g |
| Shipping Weight (Calculated) | 0.55 kg (including packaging material) |
| Dimensions (Calculated) | 120 mm x 30 mm x 26.5 mm |
| Standards & Approvals | CE, UL |
| Connector / Interface | Pin Allocation / Type | Functional Assignment |
|---|---|---|
| EtherCAT P IN | M8 female, 4-pin, P-coded | Incoming EtherCAT P network and power line |
| EtherCAT P OUT (x3) | M8 female, 4-pin, P-coded | Downstream EtherCAT P branched networks |
| Power Feed IN | M8 male, 4-pin | External 24 V DC supply input to refresh Us and Up |
| Power Feed OUT | M8 female, 4-pin | Loop-through of auxiliary supply to next junction box |
The EPP1332-0001 is designed strictly for EtherCAT P (integration of data and power on one cable) and cannot be integrated into standard, non-P EtherCAT (EP series) chains without standard-to-P conversion modules (such as EP9128). Attempting to force-fit standard M8 Ethernet cables will fail due to the proprietary, protective keyway layout of the P-coded M8 socket.
While the device is physically rated for up to 3 A per Us and Up power paths, continuous execution at or near 3 A inside enclosed, high-ambient spaces will generate thermal stress. Implement dynamic power budget calculations within TwinCAT System Manager to predict line voltage drops. Always account for cable resistance (especially with long ZS2020 series cables) before designating your next refresh node.
When running high-noise actuator lines, ensure the ground tab of the EPP1332-0001 housing is directly connected to a low-impedance copper ground bus. For proper ingress prevention, use a calibrated torque wrench on the M8 connections (typically 0.4 Nm). Unused ports must be fitted with certified protective caps to maintain the IP67 rating.
Before mounting or terminating any connectors, ensure all main and auxiliary 24 V DC power sources (Us and Up) are completely de-energized. Do not hot-plug P-coded M8 interfaces; doing so risks contact arcing and can damage sensitive downstream PHY transceiver chips.
Securely bolt the EPP1332-0001 to your machine chassis or mounting bracket using the integrated mounting holes. Ensure the surface is flat to prevent mechanical twisting of the housing.
Connect the incoming EtherCAT P cable to the EtherCAT P IN M8 port. Tighten the collar to 0.4 Nm.
Connect the 24 V DC external refresh power supply to the Power Feed IN socket using standard 4-pin M8 cabling.
Attach downstream branch networks to the three OUT ports. Seal any unused ports with protective caps.
Energize the system and confirm the status of active power and link synchronization via the module's onboard diagnostics LEDs.
