The IP1502-B400 is specifically designed for Interbus installations using the B400 protocol profile. If migrating to EtherCAT or PROFIBUS networks, this module must be replaced with the EP1518 or IP1502-B310/B510 variants. Ensure that your Interbus master configuration file (CMD software or equivalent) is updated with the correct ID code and length code matching the IP1502-B400 to prevent bus cycle mismatch errors.
When operating at the maximum 100 kHz input frequency, signal attenuation over long cable runs can lead to missed pulses. It is highly recommended to limit sensor cable lengths to under 10 meters and use low-capacitance, shielded twisted-pair cabling. In high-vibration environments, ensure the M12 connectors are torqued to the manufacturer-specified 0.6 Nm to maintain the IP67 seal and prevent intermittent contact.
Always ground the module locally using the integrated grounding lug or by mounting it directly to a grounded, unpainted metallic machine frame. Proper grounding is critical for suppressing high-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by nearby variable frequency drives (VFDs) and servo motors, which can otherwise corrupt the high-speed counter registers.
De-energize all power sources (both logic supply and auxiliary sensor power) before mounting, connecting, or disconnecting the module. Failure to do so can cause permanent damage to the internal Interbus transceiver circuitry and result in unpredictable machine behavior.
Mount the Fieldbus Box securely to a flat, vibration-resistant surface using two M4 screws through the integrated mounting holes.
Connect the Interbus incoming and outgoing cables to the corresponding M12 ports, ensuring correct keyway alignment before tightening.
Wire the counter inputs using shielded M12 sensor cables. Terminate the shield at both the sensor housing and the module's PE pin.
Apply 24 V DC auxiliary power, verify that the status LEDs indicate active communication, and perform a register test via the Interbus master.
