The IP1502-B518 is configured specifically for CANopen physical bus networks. If upgrading a field node from a standard digital input block, note that the 80-bit process image (2 x 32-bit data and 2 x 8-bit control/status registers) requires specific configuration in your master controller PLC's network manager. For applications requiring Profibus, EtherCAT, or DeviceNet, alternative fieldbus boxes such as the IP1502-B318 or IE1502 series must be selected, as the physical interface layer is fixed and cannot be converted via firmware.
When utilizing the direction-switching functionality, keep the maximum frequency of the up/down control signal below 2 kHz.
