Description

The Bently Nevada 172109-01 is a full-height rear I/O module designed for use with the 3500/65 16-Channel Temperature Monitor within the 3500 Machinery Protection System. The 172109-01 provides external termination interface connections to accept up to 16 temperature transducer inputs, supporting both resistance temperature detector (RTD) and isolated tip thermocouple (TC) field inputs. It conditions temperature transducer signals and passes them to the 3500/65 main card for alarm comparison and machinery health monitoring across industrial applications.

Installation Guidelines

  • Slot Placement: Install the 172109-01 into a full-height rear slot directly behind the 3500/65 main module position.
  • Cable and Termination Wiring: Connect the I/O module to the 172115-01 external termination block using approved 134544 cables.
  • Firmware Requirements: Ensure system firmware compatibility (3500/22 Revision 1.50 or later, 3500/01 Software Version 3.85 or later). When replacing older I/O modules with revision 172109-01 Rev D or later, upgrade the monitor firmware after removing the module to avoid mismatch errors.
  • Termination Compatibility: Do not use external termination blocks with internal termination I/O modules.
