Description

The 18745-03 is a 7200 Series Proximitor sensor configured for a combined probe and extension cable system length of 5 metres (16.4 feet). This eddy-current transducer component provides signal conditioning for 5 mm and 8 mm proximity probe systems, converting radio frequency signals into a linear voltage output proportional to the gap between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface. This Proximitor is designed for use in critical machinery monitoring applications, including axial thrust position, radial vibration, and eccentricity measurements. It is compatible with standard Bently Nevada 7200 series transducers and integrates with Bently Nevada monitoring systems. The 18745-03 ensures accurate displacement measurement across a 2 mm (80 mil) linear range with a scale factor of 200 mV/mil (7.87 V/mm).

Features

  • Configured for 5 metre total system length (probe plus extension cable)
  • Compatible with 7200 series 5 mm and 8 mm proximity probes
  • Linear measurement range of 80 mils (2.0 mm)
  • Frequency response from 0 Hz (DC) to 10 kHz
  • Industry-standard 200 mV/mil scale factor
  • Designed for high-reliability vibration and position monitoring in rotating machinery

Applications

  • Radial vibration monitoring for rotor imbalance and misalignment detection
  • Axial thrust position measurement for bearing wear monitoring
  • Rotor stability analysis using shaft average radial position
  • Eccentricity measurement for monitoring rotor bow
  • General-purpose non-contact displacement monitoring on turbines, compressors, pumps, and motors

Installation Guidelines

  • Proximitors should be mounted in a protected environment, typically within a housing or enclosure, to shield against direct weather and harsh industrial elements.
  • Ensure that the Proximitor is connected to the monitor using a three-conductor, shielded cable as per Bently Nevada documentation.
  • Maintain proper cable routing to prevent electromagnetic interference.
  • The 7200 series Proximitor is compatible with specific hazardous location installations; verify local certification requirements before deployment.
  • Ensure the probe gap is set according to the monitoring system requirements before finalizing the signal calibration.

FAQ

What is the system length for the 18745-03 Proximitor?
