Description

The Bently Nevada 24765-01-01 is a dc-powered case expansion transducer assembly designed for measuring thermal growth in turbine supervisory instrumentation (TSI) applications. Installed on the machine foundation at the end opposite where the turbine casing is attached, the unit monitors the thermal growth of the machine case relative to the foundation during startup and online operations. Operating with a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) housed inside a protective weatherproof enclosure, the 24765-01-01 converts mechanical growth into a conditioned electrical signal. This specific configuration features a 25.4 mm (1.00 in) linear range with a spring return mechanism. When utilized in a dual transducer arrangement with 3300 or 3500 series monitors, it provides continuous position data to detect obstructed sliding feet, casing distortion, or abnormal growth differentials between rotating and stationary parts.

Features

  • Measures thermal growth of machine cases relative to the foundation during turbine startup and operation.
  • Uses a dc linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) housed in a weatherproof protective enclosure.
  • Equipped with a spring return mechanism for dynamic motion tracking.
  • Supports dual transducer configurations with 3300 or 3500 series monitors to detect obstructed sliding feet and casing distortion.
  • Enables evaluation of thermal growth rates to prevent contact between rotating and stationary components.

Applications

  • Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI)
  • Thermal case expansion and shell growth measurement in large steam and gas turbines
  • Machine foundation differential thermal expansion monitoring
  • Sliding foot position and casing symmetry monitoring
