Description

Option 000 (0 mm unthreaded length), Option 040 (40 mm case length), and Option 02 (ClickLoc connector, standard cable) specify this 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe configuration with stainless steel armor — 330704-000-040-10-02-05. This 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Probe features metric M14 x 1.5 threads and integrated flexible AISI 302 stainless steel armor with an FEP outer jacket for physical protection in demanding environments. It provides a 3.94 V/mm (100 mV/mil) output when paired with a matching 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor and extension cable.

Unlike non-armored configurations (such as the 330703 series), the 330704 model protects the triaxial cable from physical wear and crushing. While 5.0 meter or 9.0 meter system configurations require no intermediate connectors, this 1.0 meter total length option connects to a 3300 XL extension cable to form a complete system loop. The Option 05 rating provides multiple hazardous area certifications, whereas the base Option 00 provides no certifications.

Features

  • Option 000: Fully threaded case with 0 mm unthreaded length.
  • Option 040: 40 mm overall case length with M14 x 1.5 metric threads.
  • Option 10: 1.0 meter (3.3 feet) total probe length.
  • Option 02: Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector and standard 75 ohm triaxial cable.
  • Option 05: Multiple Approvals including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx certifications for hazardous area installations.
  • Physical Protection: Integrated flexible AISI 302 stainless steel armor with an FEP outer jacket.
  • Tip Construction: Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip material with patented TipLoc molding.
  • Pull Strength: Patented CableLoc design provides 330 N (75 lb) probe-to-lead pull strength.

Applications

  • Axial (thrust) position measurements on steam turbines and compressors.
  • Ramp differential expansion measurements on industrial power generation turbines.
  • Rod position and rod drop measurements on reciprocating compressors.
  • Tachometer, zero speed, and speed measurement systems.
  • Phase reference (Keyphasor) signal generation for rotating machinery diagnostics.
  • Shaft vibration and radial position monitoring in fluid-film bearing machines.

Installation Guidelines

Proper physical installation of the probe is required for correct measurement. Position the probe tip at the recommended gap setting of 2.5 mm (100 mils) from the target surface (approximately -10 Vdc output). Use a class-matching thread and do not exceed the maximum rated installation torque of 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb) for the M14 x 1.5 case. The recommended installation torque is 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb). Maintain a minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) for both armored and unarmored cable portions. If connectors are exposed to high moisture or turbine oil, install a fluorosilicone connector protector or wrap with recommended silicone self-fusing tape to prevent moisture ingress and signal degradation.
