Description

Fully threaded M16 x 1.5 metric steel probe body with a 50 mm case length and stainless steel protective armor specifies the 330710-000-050-02-00 configuration. This standard-mount 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Probe is used for non-contact eddy-current displacement measurements inside Bently Nevada 3300 XL monitoring systems. The 11 mm probe tip provides a longer linear range of 4.0 mm (160 mils), making it suitable for axial position measurements, differential expansion, or radial vibration on large machines where standard 8 mm systems do not offer sufficient range.

The integrated coaxial cable is protected by a flexible stainless steel armor with an outer FEP jacket, protecting the transducer line from harsh environments, mechanical damage, and chemical exposure. It comes equipped with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector that prevents accidental loosening due to vibration. It is designed to work in conjunction with the 330730 extension cable and a 330780 Proximitor sensor for complete machinery protection loops.

Features

  • Option 000 specifies a 0 mm unthreaded length for maximum case threading utility in standard mount configurations.
  • Option 050 provides a 50 mm overall threaded case length with M16 x 1.5 metric thread.
  • Option 02 equips the probe with a miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector and a standard coaxial cable.
  • Integrated flexible AISI 302 stainless steel armor with FEP outer jacket shields the probe lead from physical wear and environmental ingress.
  • Option 00 designates that agency approval is not required, simplifying documentation for non-classified general-purpose machinery locations.
  • Gold-plated brass coaxial connectors establish a secure, low-loss electrical coupling that resists machine-induced vibration.
  • TipLoc molded tip construction provides a robust bond between the polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip and the stainless steel case to prevent oil or gas bypass.

Applications

This transducer is primarily used in critical industrial machinery, including turbine and compressor systems, to measure:

  • Axial (thrust) shaft position
  • Ramp differential expansion on steam turbine rotors
  • Rod drop or rod position on reciprocating compressors
  • Tachometer, phase reference (Keyphasor), and zero-speed signals

Installation Guidelines

Careful attention must be paid during installation to prevent cable damage and probe tip degradation:

  • Probe Torque: Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb). The recommended torque is 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb) to prevent case deformation.
  • Minimum Bend Radius: Ensure that the minimum bend radius for the armored probe cable is not less than 25.4 mm (1.0 inch).
  • Connector Care: Keep coaxial connections clean and dry. Finger-tighten the miniature ClickLoc coaxial connectors first, then apply a maximum of 0.565 N-m (5 in-lb) torque. Avoid exposing unprotected connections to turbine lubricants.
  • Safety Wiring: Use the safety wire holes on the standard hex nut to secure the probe against loosening under rotational vibration.

Compliance and Certifications

This transducer system is compliant with the following standards when paired with compatible 3300 XL components:

  • EMC Directive: 2014/30/EU (EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4)
  • RoHS Directive: 2011/65/EU
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 certified

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330710-000-050-02-00 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Probe

What does the 330710-000-050-02-00 part number configure?

It configures a standard-mount 3300 XL 11 mm proximity probe with an M16 x 1.5 metric thread, 0 mm unthreaded length, 50 mm overall case length, stainless steel armor, standard coaxial cable with a miniature ClickLoc connector, and no agency approvals.

Why use the 11 mm proximity probe system instead of the standard 8 mm system?

The 11 mm system provides a longer linear range of 4.0 mm (160 mils) compared to the 2.0 mm (80 mils) of the 8 mm system, which is ideal for differential expansion and axial thrust measurements.

What is the function of the stainless steel armor on this probe cable?

The flexible stainless steel armor has an FEP jacket to shield the triaxial cable from physical abrasions, moisture, oil, and potential mechanical damage during operation.

What is the recommended installation torque for this probe?

The recommended installation torque is 21.1 N-m (187 in-lb), and the absolute maximum torque must not exceed 63.3 N-m (560 in-lb).
