Description

Non-contact eddy-current displacement probe and sensor assembly for 3300 XL monitoring systems; orderable configuration 330881-28-04-110-06-02 integrates a 3300 XL 8 mm probe with Multiple Approvals (Option 28) and a Proximitor sensor inside a single environmental housing. By using a 40 mm standoff adapter (Option 04) and a 110 mm probe penetration (Option 110), this metric PROXPAC XL assembly mounts directly to rotating machinery cases to measure shaft vibration, radial position, or axial position.

Compared to standard 3300 XL separate probe and sensor systems, this integrated transducer assembly eliminates the need for an external extension cable and separate Proximitor housing. The glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic housing of this metric assembly is rated IP66/Type 4X, providing protective isolation in harsh environments. It features Option 06 fittings, consisting of one 3/4-14 NPT fitting, one 3/4-14 NPT to 1 1/2-14 NPT stainless steel reducer, and two plugs, paired with a 3/4-14 NPT mounting thread (Option 02).

Features

  • Option 28 probe configuration provides a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with multiple hazardous area approvals, installed directly in the sleeve.
  • Option 04 standoff adapter specifies a 40 mm standoff length (orderable in increments of 10 mm).
  • Option 110 probe penetration establishes a 110 mm penetration depth (orderable in increments of 1 mm).
  • Option 06 fittings package supplies one 3/4-14 NPT fitting, one 3/4-14 NPT to 1 1/2-14 NPT stainless steel reducer, and two plugs.
  • Option 02 mounting thread specifies a 3/4-14 NPT connection, required for standoff adapter mounting.
  • Thermoplastic housing constructed of glass-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) with conductive fibers to dissipate electrostatic charges.
  • Integrated Proximitor sensor design eliminates the need for an extension cable and separate sensor housing, allowing direct field wiring to monitors.

Applications

  • Radial shaft vibration and axial position measurements in rotating machinery.
  • Machinery monitoring and protection where integrated transducers reduce wiring complexity.
  • Petrochemical, power generation, and gas turbine applications with strict environmental sealing requirements.

Connections and Interfaces

Field wiring terminals are located inside the housing lid on the Proximitor sensor module. Field wiring should use 3-conductor twisted, shielded cable (18 AWG / 1.0 sq mm recommended) to connect the PROXPAC XL directly to the monitoring system.

Installation Guidelines

  • Grounding: Ensure the grounding liner and retaining plate are properly installed inside the plastic housing.
  • Conduit Protection: Use conduit fittings when hardline conduit or metal piping is brought into the housing. If using flexible conduit, order with integral fittings.
  • Shielding: Field wiring should use 3-conductor shielded twisted-pair cable (16 to 24 AWG) with drain wire, grounded at the monitor end only.
  • Sleeve Support: If combined standoff adapter and probe penetration lengths exceed 305 mm, additional sleeve support must be provided near the probe to avoid resonance.
  • Mounting Torque: Tighten retaining nut to 29.5 N-m (260 in-lb) and probe sleeve locknut to 39.3 N-m (350 in-lb).
