IC693CPU360 vs IC693CPU364: Ethernet and Power Budget
Compare the IC693CPU360 and IC693CPU364 by Ethernet interface, +5 VDC load, memory, rack limits, and replacement checks.
The GE Fanuc IC693CPU360 and IC693CPU364 share the same Series 90-30 CPU class, but they are not drop-in equivalents for every rack. The CPU364 adds an embedded Ethernet interface and draws more current from the +5 VDC backplane supply.
Start with the power budget
The IC693CPU360 draws 670 mA from the +5 VDC supply. The IC693CPU364 draws 1.51 A. That 840 mA difference matters in racks with high I/O loading or an older 30 W power supply.
Before a CPU364 replacement, total the +5 VDC demand for the CPU and every installed module. Compare the result with the selected Series 90-30 power supply rating. Do not assume that available physical slots mean available power.
Ethernet is the main functional difference
The CPU360 has one built-in serial port. It supports SNP and SNP-X slave protocols through the connector on the PLC power supply. Ethernet requires a separate communications module.
The CPU364 adds an internal Ethernet interface. It supports direct 10BASE-T cabling or AAUI through an external transceiver. The serial port remains available.
This changes the replacement scope. A CPU360 rack using an external Ethernet module may need revised cabling, IP addressing, and rack documentation if Ethernet moves to the CPU364.

Replacement checks
- Record the current CPU firmware and program-memory allocation.
- Export the PLC project before removing the installed CPU.
- Calculate the +5 VDC rack load with the proposed CPU.
- Record serial settings and any Ethernet module configuration.
- Confirm the target IP address, subnet, and network path.
- Check the rack count and expansion or remote-baseplate arrangement.
- Test I/O, communications, clock-dependent logic, and fault handling after the change.
