Description

Option 00 (fully threaded), Option 60 (6.0 in overall case length), and Option 05 (0.5 m total length) specify this armored 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe configuration — 330102-00-60-05-02-05. Designed for high-integrity eddy-current displacement monitoring, this probe integrates a flexible AISI 302/304 stainless steel protective armor with an outer FEP jacket directly over the FEP triaxial probe cable. This heavy-duty mechanical sleeve protects the signal lead from sharp edges, mechanical impacts, and environmental contaminants commonly found in heavy rotating machinery housings.

The probe case features a 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread configuration with a 6.0 in total case length and no unthreaded portion. The probe tip is made from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) plastic and houses the inductive eddy-current sensor coil, which measures both static axial position and dynamic shaft vibration. It terminates in a gold-plated miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector (Option 02) and complies with hazardous area installation requirements under Option 05, making it suitable for hazardous area classification zones.

Features

  • Protective flexible stainless steel armor (AISI 302/304) with an FEP outer jacket to guard the signal path against abrasion and mechanical stresses.
  • Fully threaded 3/8-24 UNF-2A steel body (Option 00) with a 6.0 in case length (Option 60) for long-reach deep-bore machinery installations.
  • 0.5 meter (1.6 feet) total probe length (Option 05) designed to be combined with standard 3300 XL extension cables.
  • Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector (Option 02) providing a secure gold-plated connection to standard extension cables without requiring a connector protector.
  • Agency approval package Option 05, certifying compliance with CSA, ATEX, and IECEx requirements for hazardous area classifications.

Applications

This proximity probe is used across power generation, petrochemical, oil and gas, and wastewater industries. Primary applications include shaft vibration and axial position measurement on high-speed rotating machinery, as well as speed detection and Keyphasor reference measurements on fluid-film bearing systems. It is typically deployed on turbines, compressors, gearboxes, pumps, and fans where the cable run requires enhanced physical shielding.

Installation Guidelines

  • Do not exceed the recommended installation torque of 7.5 N-m (66 in-lbf) on the 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread to avoid damaging the sensor case.
  • Ensure the minimum bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) is maintained for the armored cable path during installation.
  • Provide a physical side-clearance of at least three probe tip diameters (24.0 mm or 0.94 in) between the probe tip and surrounding metal to prevent side-loading calibration errors.
  • If installing in pressure-retaining housings, implement proper outer gland seals, and note that standard probes are not pre-tested for high-pressure sealing before shipment.

Bently Nevada 330102-00-60-05-02-05 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe

What is the difference between the 330101 and 330102 proximity probes?

The model 330102 features a flexible stainless steel protective armor with an outer FEP jacket over the triaxial cable, whereas the 330101 model is unarmored. This makes the 330102 probe ideal for applications requiring enhanced physical protection.

What configuration is specified by the 330102-00-60-05-02-05 part number?

This SKU specifies a fully threaded 3/8-24 UNF-2A probe case (0.0 inches unthreaded) with a 6.0-inch overall case length, a 0.5-meter total cable length, a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector without a connector protector, and CSA/ATEX/IECEx hazardous area approvals.

Does this armored proximity probe require a separate extension cable?

Yes, standard proximity transducer systems are calibrated for 5.0-meter or 9.0-meter total system lengths. This 0.5-meter probe must be paired with the appropriate length extension cable to match the total calibrated length of the Proximitor sensor.

What are the temperature ratings for this probe configuration?

The probe tip, cable, and connectors are rated for operating and storage temperatures ranging from -52 degC to +177 degC (-62 degF to +350 degF).
