The EL1259 (EL1259) is an ultra-high-speed EtherCAT Terminal that combines 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs in a single 12 mm HD (High Density) housing. The EL1259 features "multi-timestamping" and "auto-activation" capabilities, supported by Distributed Clocks (DC). With switching times of less than 1 microsecond and a precision of << 1 microsecond, it allows for the detection and execution of signals at a resolution far beyond standard PLC cycle times, significantly reducing jitter and increasing the deterministic performance of B2B industrial machinery.

Standard I/O modules only update their state once per PLC cycle. Multi-timestamping allows the EL1259 to record the exact time of multiple signal changes (edges) within that cycle. This allows the controller to know exactly when events occurred, regardless of the cycle time, which is critical for measuring high-speed pulses or synchronized axis positions.

How does "Auto-Activation" work for the outputs?

Auto-activation allows the output state to be changed automatically by the terminal itself at a predefined timestamp sent by the PLC.
