One-Cable Automation & Signal Versatility

The EPP2338-0002 features a highly adaptive internal logic that supports EN 61131-2, type 1/3 inputs. With a ultra-fast 10 µs input filter, it can capture high-frequency trigger signals that standard PLC modules often miss. When configured as outputs, each of the 8 channels can drive up to 0.5 A, supporting ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads. The integrated short-circuit protection for both sensor supply and individual output channels ensures that a localized wiring fault does not compromise the entire EtherCAT P segment. The P-coding is a physical keying standard that prevents the accidental connection of standard EtherCAT cables to EtherCAT P ports. If the voltage drop exceeds the 24 VDC (-15 percent / +20 percent) tolerance at the end of the chain, an EP9214 or EP9224 power feeder must be inserted to refresh the power levels.

  • M12 Connector Torquing: To maintain the IP67 rating, all M12 and M8 connectors must be tightened with a calibrated torque wrench (typically 0.6 Nm for M12). Use protective caps on any unused sockets to prevent moisture ingress and oxidation of the contacts.

  • Inductive Load Handling: While the outputs are short-circuit proof, when switching high-inductance loads (such as large solenoid valves), ensure that the internal flyback diodes are sufficient for your cycle rate. For extremely high-frequency switching, external quenching circuits may be used to extend the module’s lifespan.
