The 2300/20 monitor serves as an ideal, self-contained alternative to rack-mounted 3500 series machinery protection systems for isolated or standalone assets. This module requires System 1 Evo software platform integration to enable advanced diagnostic capabilities, though localized alarm relays function completely independently of software status.
When deploying inside the fiberglass enclosure, verify that ambient plant temperatures do not exceed the monitor's rated operating threshold of 65 degC. Ensure that the 24 VDC external power supply has a minimum output capability of 1.5 Amps to comfortably handle transient startup currents of the monitor and the dual accelerometers combined.
To avoid signal degradation and noise pickup from adjacent variable frequency drives (VFDs), the accelerometer cables must be routed through dedicated, grounded conduit. Sensor shielding must be terminated cleanly at the monitor terminal block end only; do not ground the shield at the sensor housing, as this will introduce localized ground loop currents that corrupt the dynamic vibration readings.
CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING
Isolate and lock out all machinery and power distribution circuits before initiating mechanical mounting or terminal block wiring. Failure to de-energize the 24 VDC input supply prior to connection can damage internal solid-state components and void the manufacturer's warranty.
Securely mount the fiberglass enclosure to a flat, vibration-free structure adjacent to the monitored machine using external mounting brackets.
Install the Commtest accelerometers directly on the machine's bearing housings using standard threaded studs, ensuring flat and clean mounting surfaces.
Route the 4.8m sensor cables into the enclosure using liquid-tight cable glands, and terminate the leads to the terminal block as per the wiring diagram.
Connect a regulated, clean 24 VDC power supply to the designated power terminals on the 2300/20 monitor unit.
Establish communication via the shielded Ethernet cable to configure monitoring bands, alert/danger setpoints, and relay configurations.
