Description

The Bently Nevada 330101-00-15-10-02-00 is an unarmored 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe configured with a standard 3/8-24 UNF thread, 0.0 inches of unthreaded length, and a 1.5-inch overall case length. Designed with a 1.0-meter (3.3 feet) total cable length terminated in a gold-plated miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector, this specific configuration is built for installations that do not require hazardous area agency approvals. By offering a fully threaded 1.5-inch case with no unthreaded portion, this probe allows maximum installation flexibility inside bearing blocks, tight mounting brackets, or machine casings where the depth of thread engagement must be optimized.

Operating on the eddy-current measurement principle, this non-contacting sensor provides highly accurate displacement and shaft position monitoring. When integrated into a complete 3300 XL monitoring chain with a compatible Proximitor sensor (such as the 330180 series) and an extension cable, it delivers an output voltage that is directly proportional to the physical gap between the probe tip and the target shaft. This makes it an ideal instrument for capturing both static position (for thrust measurement) and dynamic vibration (for radial shaft vibration monitoring). The robust PPS tip and stainless steel case construction provide reliable operation and defense against aggressive industrial fluids and high pressures.

Features

  • Unarmored standard coaxial cable minimizes bulk, allowing easier routing through conduit bends or tight machine channels.
  • Gold-plated brass/beryllium copper coaxial ClickLoc connector offers a secure, vibration-resistant electrical coupling with standard extension cables.
  • Fully threaded 3/8-24 UNF case provides full-length mechanical engagement for secure panel or bracket mounting.
  • Provides a continuous 2.0 mm (80 mils) linear range with standard scale factors of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) when properly calibrated to AISI 4140 steel.
  • Durable polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip is molded directly to the stainless steel body to protect internal coil electronics against fluids and moisture.
  • Excellent thermal stability over its broad operating temperature range of -52 to +177 degC.

Applications

  • Direct dynamic radial vibration measurement on high-speed fluid-film bearing housings.
  • Axial position monitoring on critical steam and gas turbine shafts to detect thrust-bearing wear.
  • Shaft displacement and machine casing protection on large centrifugal compressors, generators, and process pumps.
  • Rotational speed and phase reference measurements utilizing a Keyphasor trigger notch.

Installation Guidelines

  • Ensure the mounting surface or bracket matches the standard 3/8-24 UNF-2A thread pattern.
  • To avoid binding, do not exceed the maximum recommended thread engagement of 0.563 in during installation.
  • Mount the probe with the correct gap setting, typically 1.27 mm (50 mils) to establish a -9 Vdc bias voltage.
  • When routing, do not exceed the minimum allowable bend radius of the standard unarmored coaxial cable to prevent attenuation.
  • Ensure both standard ClickLoc connectors are completely dry and free from lubricants before joining them.
  • Always run field cables through a dedicated conduit or secure with brackets to eliminate mechanical vibration wear.

Compliance and Certifications

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Directive 2014/30/EU; EN 61000-6-2 (Immunity), EN 61000-6-4 (Emissions)
  • RoHS Compliance: European RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and EN 50581
  • China RoHS: Cables have a designated Environment-Friendly Use Period (EFUP) of 15 years per SJ/T 11364-2024
  • Functional Safety: SIL 2 capable (HFT=0) / SIL 3 capable (HFT=1) when integrated into certified machinery protection loops

Technical Datasheet

Bently Nevada 330101-00-15-10-02-00 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe

What does the unthreaded and case length configuration mean for this specific probe?

The 330101-00-15-10-02-00 has a 0.0-inch unthreaded length (fully threaded case) and a 1.5-inch overall case length with 3/8-24 UNF threads, making it suitable for applications where the probe body must be threaded directly into bearing housings with minimal clearance requirements.

What is the total cable length and connector type of this SKU?

This probe configuration features a 1.0-meter (3.3 feet) standard unarmored coaxial cable terminated with a gold-plated miniature ClickLoc coaxial connector for secure, reliable mating with a standard extension cable.

Are hazardous area approvals included with this model?

No, the agency approval option is '00' (Not required), which means this specific configuration is designed for general purpose, non-hazardous area applications. For hazardous areas, a model with the '05' option should be used.

What is the recommended gap setting for radial vibration measurements?

For standard dynamic measurements, the recommended probe gap is 1.27 mm (50 mils), which corresponds to a nominal output of -9 Vdc from the matching Proximitor sensor.
